BBC: Bush links Hezbollah and 'plot'
Asshat continues the milking of something he contributed ZILCH to ...

US President George W Bush says Hezbollah and alleged UK air plot suspects share a "totalitarian ideology" they are seeking to spread.

August 12, 2006

Linking their actions with insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan, he said they all wanted to "establish safe havens from which to attack free nations".

Mr Bush said the UK terror plot was a "reminder that terrorists are still plotting attacks to kill our people".

He made the comments in his weekly radio address to the American people.

'Worst attacks yet'

"The terrorists attempt to bring down airplanes full of innocent men, women, and children," Mr Bush said.

"They kill civilians and American servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan, and they deliberately hide behind civilians in Lebanon. They are seeking to spread their totalitarian ideology."

The plotters were Sunnis while Hezbollah is Shia. I don't think Bush knows, or cares to know, about the difference.

After 2,601 dead GIs and the war going badly in Iraq, and all the lies that we were told to get us to this point, we no longer believe any of the "warnings" about Iran or Syria.

Let's pack our bags, and bring all the troops home!

16. Why qualify it?
"with depleted or top-of-the-line uranium."...

Given the mindset of the people running the show and the 'desparation of sweat' visible for all but the most devout believer..."go nuke Iran" is exactly what is going to happen.

I believe that there exists a critical mass of elite convergence on a simple plan: if you use a nuclear weapon on an Arab capital, then the Arab will surrender.

BTW Welcome to DU!!!

6. unless democrats in the beltway rethink their original support
for the iraq war -- and begin to ATTACK the FAILURES of bush to make the world safer{in fact make it more dagerous} and begin to paste the repukes with wanting terror to spread -- then we can expect the repukes to maintain their current strategy of running on the war on terror and to plunge the publics minds into a barrel full of their fear.

the democratic party cannot beat the republicans from a defensive position on this.

we might still take back the house -- but there may be seats that we could other wise pick up if we were more muscular and aggressive in our approach to the repukes.

13. Bush should keep his trap shut about something he doesn' know
He's the one who's making the most out of these alleged terrorist plots. It makes a perfect theme for his fundraisers. I'm sick of him taking our money to fly his ass all over the country to have his fundraisers with his rich friends. They must be what is responsible for his 34% approval rate, or else there's a lot of stupid people in this country.

George W. Bush couldn't care less about innocent men, women and children; if he did care, he wouldn't start his oil wars for profit by lying to justify them. Count the men, women, and children he is responsible for killing. He's ruthless, and a disgusting, spoiled-rich-no good bum. :+ :+ :+ :+

He and the news media try their best to make him look normal, and intelligent, but it's not working.
It's disgusting to watch him pretend he knows what he's talking about..I just don't like him or
anything he stands for, and I can't remember ever not being able to at least tolerate our president
whether republican or democrat.
In my opinion, the republican party has slid backward since Bush has been president.

20. Totalitarian?
Edited on Sat Aug-12-06 09:28 PM by Marie26
When's the last time a terrorist was described as "totalitarian"? Isn't that usually the description for leaders who rule their countries w/o any respect for democracy, human rights, or the law? Jeez, the projection here is becoming embarrassing & slightly scary. I'm starting to think Bush will drag us into a world war to save us from himself.

30. Bush links Hezbollah and UK 'plot'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4787207.stm

US President George W Bush says Hezbollah and alleged UK air plot suspects share a "totalitarian ideology" they are seeking to spread.

>>>

>>

He says that as well as intelligence efforts to foil terror plots against US civilians, the ongoing military campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq are part of that same battle, as is Israel's conflict with Lebanon.

Edited on Sun Aug-13-06 08:46 PM by joemurphy
Because he shares with them a "totalitarian ideology".

One that espouses secret decision-making, illegal surveillance, violations of human rights, unbridled and non-democratic authoritarian leadership, torture, violent militaristic "solutions" to international problems, propaganda, media control, and manipulation of public opinion.

Bush is a lot like the enemy.

45. technically speaking yes, but in the broader context...
...it's how they insinuate the same...just as they "linked" Hussein/Iraq with al-Qaeda and 9/11; they don't have to come out and say it...just putting the two in the same sentence does the trick. Then they count on American's being too distracted or illiterate to distinguish between the evil-doers; and they know the M$M isn't going to parse or explain the difference either. It's remarkable how many people, even now, don't know the difference between Hamas and Hezbollah; between the Taliban or al-Qaeda, between Sunni's and Shi'ia, etc., etc.

23 October Suicide truck loaded with equivalent of 12,000 pounds of explosives destroyed headquarters building of BLT 1/8 at Beirut International Airport. Almost simultaneous suicide attack destroyed building occupied by French paratroopers. U.S. casualties: 241 killed, 70 wounded. French casualties: 58 killed. Marine replacement airlifts, via 13 C-141 aircraft, begin the same day.
