Israel approves deeper offensive
Wednesday, 9 August 2006, 14:58 GMT 15:58 UK
The Israeli cabinet has approved an army plan to push deeper into Lebanon, to try to take control of areas used by Hezbollah to launch rockets on Israel.

An extra 30,000 troops could be needed for the advance, which aims to reach the Litani River, up to 30km (18 miles) inside Lebanon.

The offensive could take at least a month, one cabinet minister warned.

Israel has launched new strikes on southern Beirut, as about 100 more Hezbollah rockets were fired at Israel.

4. Now that Hizbollah agreed to the ceasefire
All but guarentees that Israel will continue to push the offensive......

Nasrallah has agreed to the lebanese army stepping in. Israel will drag its feet and continue the invasion. I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look that way.

5. Everyone favors a cease fire.
The issue is when and on what conditions? Nasrallah knows well enough what is coming; he is rallying his troops and making his case to the watching world.
