1. He's Still King For 2 1/2 More Years
Polls? Who cares about polls? "I'M KING GEORGE!!" "You can get my rating down to the 23% base, and I'll still be KING GEORGE!"

39. There are other parallels too
As I read the Britannia article, I was thinking, "This sounds like our King George." I even started to think that he might be the reincarnation of George III, but a picture of George III didn't look at all like George the Dumbya.

41. Well, it's an idealized portrait.
Besides, I heard that part of our monarch's rakish good looks could be from fetal alcohol syndrome. I do think Chimpy's brain was pickled in the womb.

From Wikipedia:

<begin snip>
Features of FASD may include facial deformities, stunted physical and emotional development, memory and attention deficits, a tendency to impulsive behavior, inability to reason from cause to effect, a failure to comprehend the concept of time, difficulty telling fantasy from reality, inability to control sexual impulses, and an apparent lack of remorse. Secondary disabilities such as mental illness and drug addiction are also likely to develop. Unlike the primary disabilities, these do not reflect the central nervous system damage, but instead develop because the child has difficulty adapting to his environment.

Fetal alcohol exposure is regarded by researchers as the leading known cause of mental retardation in the Western world.
<end snip>

Is that fucking scary, or what?

win in November, and Conyer gets to be Judiciary chairman, there will be an impeachment investigation. Natuarlly there is no hope whatsoever of a conviction, but it may be possible that * is forced to resign by his handlers to keep deep, dark secrets from coming out!!

44. Not so quick
2/3 approval is possible depending on the mood of the country in the NOV elections. This may turn out to be a serious referendum on Bush. In fact it may be exactly what the electorate, (less the 1/3 nutty neocons) want to be done.

21. Not according to the freak I saw on the freeway yesterday, LOL.
First I saw the 2 bumper stickers that crowed his support for the chimp, then I saw the license plate that said BUSH 05.

It was a great, big, nice, new truck, too. What a shame to deface it like that.

I gave him the finger but he didn't see me. I bet he gets the finger a lot.

in 1492 using TIE fighters launched from the deck of the 'Merrimack'.

Dear God in heaven, I don't think this person should be allowed to use a fork or knife, for his own protection and the protection of others.

I believe the term I am looking for is 'flabbergasted'.

I would say it would be his daddy because his approval rating was in the dumper at that time and Clinton was new and enjoying the first 100 days honeymoon.

29. I can tell you who they are.
Go to Wall Street Journal opinion board (opinionjournal.com). There's always repsonses to the editorials and most of the time the majority of responses are from Republicans. You can almost always find some die-hard Bush fans among them.

I gather from their typical responses that the Bush fans are still supportive of him because:

1) He is a good Christian and is not afraid to lead the country based on his beliefs.
2) He stands by his convictions. Unlike Clinton, he doesn't make every decision based on popularity polls. All he cares about is keepin us safe from the terrorists. These are dangerous times. They absolutely trust him with their lives. (It may seem like I'm embellishing these a little. Scary thing is that I'm not.)
3) Bush is the essence of Presidential perfection. The only reason that EVERYBODY doesn't see how great Mr. Wonderful is, is because of the raging, angry liberals who seize every opportunity to undermine the Republicans efforts at getting anything done and because the (you guessed it) liberal media has an anti-Bush agenda. The media would rather die than say anything positive about Bush or Iraq.

That pretty much sums it up. Most of the other Republicans that respond on that board are starting to see the light and have stopped drooling and cheerleading over the chimp. Even Peggy Noonan is starting to come to her senses. It's hard for me to understand why some of the otherwise intelligent Republicans didn't see how awful Bush was BEFORE they helped to re-elect him.

It's no accident that the proportion of people who support George W. Bush is about the same proportion of people who belong to right-wing fundamentalist churches.

30-something % approval rating during 1992 campaign.

40. worst ever?
Prior to the '04 elections I wrote an op-ed piece comparing Hoover to Bush II.

I ended it by saying, at least Bush doesn't suck as bad as a Hoover.

And now I must apoligize to the Hooverites. Bush is by far the #1 worst President this

country has ever had. When I travel abroad I tell people I'm a Canadian citizen!!!!!!!!!!!
