(Bush money launderer)Noe sentencing in federal case set for Sept. 12

Tom Noe will be sentenced on Sept. 12 for laundering $45,400 into President Bush's re-election, a federal judge said yesterday.

Noe, 52, is expected to face 24 to 30 months in prison and substantial fines for violating federal campaign-finance laws by using conduits to make illegal contributions.

However, prosecutors have said they will push for a tougher sentence because of the "potential loss of public faith on the presidential campaign" as a result of the case.

Noe's fate - at least on his federal charges - is ultimately in the hands of U.S. District Judge David Katz, who has scheduled sentencing for 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 in federal court in Toledo...
