Halting Iran Nuclear Program Trumps Oil Price - Bodman

Halting Iran's nuclear ambitions is more important than preventing high crude oil prices, U.S. Energy Secretary Sam Bodman said on Tuesday.

"We are as prepared as we can be" for a disruption of Iranian oil exports, Bodman told reporters. "As important as the price of oil is, (stopping Iranian nuclear enrichment is) more important than the price of oil."

The West's dispute with oil producer Iran over its nuclear program has raised concern of possible disruption of Iranian supplies and that has been compounded by anxiety that a four-week old conflict between Israel and Lebanon could spread. OPEC member Iran is the world's fourth-biggest oil exporter.

Time to lube up.

2. Perhaps they think they can capture Iranian oilfields?
And make even greater obscene profits. I know it didn't work in Iraq, but these guys don't let a little thing like abject failure spoil their plans.

3. And what a coincidence -
a manufactured military crisis is right on track to provide the excuses required to start the next phase of the neocon blunder.

6. If stopping Iran from getting a nuke is so important
why then did America give the Iranians blueprints to make a nuke? This is all bullshit and will only continue to hurt The People, while BP and Exxon-Mobile post record high profits in the next quarter. I hate they way we abuse capitalism.
