Lieberman website hacked
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 12:12 PM by ls317
http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/16837.html

– Senator Joe Lieberman’s (D-CN) website is reported as having been hacked on Tuesday. His website is currently down.

Lieberman’s staff said that along with the site being down, email cannot be accessed or used. Operatives from his opponent’s, Ned Lamont, camp are being blamed. Many are advising that this is yet another indication that the far-Left is now running the Democrat Party.

1. Here's why his email is down...
He didn't pay the damn bill!!!

Update: Can you believe that Lieberman's site is still down? I wonder if they're still trying to blame "bloggers" for their inability to pay their bills.

What's more, check out the URL that joe2006.com resolves to:

server1.myhostcamp.com/suspended.page/

"Suspended". Accounts are generally suspended for one of two reasons: 1) inappropriate or illegal content (which we can obviously rule out in this case), or 2) from lack of payment. And that would make sense given that the first screen when Lieberman's site went down was, indeed, a request that the website owner contact their billing department:

4. GOP-like behavior
If this hack was due to an over-zealous Lamont supporter, it will really be regrettable. If Ned is to win, it should be done using honorable tactics in a clean fight. I'm not talking about him specifically - I'm sure he knew nothing about this. I'm talking about his supporters who have had success because they've had an important moral message. A lone idiot can taint a whole campaign.

26. You won't get it
This guy's been posting unsubstantiated comments kissing Lieberman's ass all day long, on every thread but one regarding this "hack" (actually nothing of the kind, but he apparently has masters to whom he reports, and needs to post here what they tell him to, or something, I guess).

NEVER, not one time, has the poster you're resopnding to given one single shred of actual information. It's always been one-liners like the above with no actual followup. In light of the article a couple weeks back about certain companies (and politicians, maybe?) actually paying people to post corporate lines to blogs and forums such as this one, I'd say it's not too far a stretch to state that DD is a paid shill.

He's just that obvious about it. Sorry, Dunham, but we're not buying what you're trying to sell.

of putting bugs in his own candidates office... as election day approached...to fuzz it all up and make the Democrat look like a creep.

But they could never prove it.

That being said I'm sure the GOP desperately wants Lieberman to loose. To show how anti-semetic Dems are...and carve off another few % points from the Democratic base.

Weird. God only knows who did it.

Unless he's hosting everything on the same server which is unlikely. There is a possibilty that Joe LIEberman and/or his staff "sabotaged", took down their own campaign website or they forgot to pay their bills.

18. Joe could have an email loop going and the host suspended all accounts
to stop it without knowing exactly what the problem was. This is a typical thing to happen.

Joe's team is is nothing but a bunch of liers for insinuating the Lamont's people are responsible for this, they have ZERO evidence, and are just milking this. These Joementum fucks probably setup the email loop knowing this would happen to generate publicity and spin. Look out folks this a Karl Rove special in production, I know it's all over TV...

35. This is probably the real reason
Sites get suspended if they become sources of spam: I had a site get suspended because it was the target of spam! I had no outgoing email and no way of configuring it without email... the host had no choice but to reinstate the site.

So there *could* be massive amounts of email being sent to joe2006.com that would trigger a similar auto-lock... I wonder who would be behind that?

Alternately, if their mail server was not secure, it might have been hacked and turned into a spam relay, which might trigger a DOS suspend.

Either way, Joe's been whining all along about Ned and the internets: I don't think his loyal base uses his web presence that much...

Tut-tut

21. The Hartford Courant - Lieberman Accuses Foe Of Hacking Web Site
http://www.courant.com/news/politics/hc-liebermansite0808,0,1058018.story?coll=hc-headlines-home

"Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, locked in a battle with an anti-war challenger in the nation's most closely watched primary race Tuesday, accused his opponent's supporters of hacking his campaign Web site and e-mail system.

Lamont, campaigning early Tuesday afternoon in Bridgeport, said he knew nothing about the accusations. "It's just another scurrilous charge," he said.

Sean Smith, Lieberman's campaign manager, said the site began having problems Monday night and crashed for good at 7 a.m. Lieberman's staff offered no evidence that Lamont's supporters were to blame.

Smith said the campaign has contacted the Connecticut attorney general's office and asked for a criminal investigation by state and federal authorities. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office declined immediate comment. Calls placed to the FBI and the chief state's attorney's office seeking comment were not immediately returned."

I like how theres no evidence at all

Hello there.

I think maybe you need to do some research and reporting about the Lieberman web site. It sounds like they (Lieberman) grabbed onto the most attention-getting possibility and won't let go. I would point you in the direction of the following sites:

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Skinner/115

?click

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/8/8/124621/2122

For example, when you try to go to http://www.joe2006.com, the page redirects to http://server1.myhostcamp.com/suspended.page/

Note the words "suspended page" in the URL. I'm going the theory that they didn't pay their bill.

For the record, I'm from Connecticut and voted for Lieberman twice in 2000. I just want the victory in this race to not have a taint on it.

44. NYT - Lieberman Camp Blames Foes for Web Site Crash
August 8, 2006

The campaign of Senator Joseph I. Lieberman accused its opponents of suppressing Connecticut voter turnout today in the unfolding Democratic primary race for the United States Senate between Mr. Lieberman and Ned Lamont, a Greenwich multimillionaire whose antiwar candidacy has proved unexpectedly strong.

The Lieberman camp, which had been encouraged by a poll on Monday showing Mr. Lamont’s lead narrowing, saw its newfound optimism dimming somewhat this afternoon. Aides fulminated over the collapse of their campaign Web site, which they blamed on unnamed “political opponents.”

Mr. Lieberman’s campaign manager, Sean Smith, said the online blackout was tantamount to voter suppression, because the Web site was a tool to communicate with some Democrats. He said the campaign would file a formal complaint asking state and federal legal authorities to investigate.

But another Lieberman adviser, Dan Gerstein, said his camp at this point was not considering challenging the results of the Senate primary on the basis of a voter suppression charge.

This bullsh*t hacked charge is nothing but the basis for a legal challenge to Leiberman's impending loss. He and his camp will use the charge to put Lamont on the defensive during the general election. Frankly, I wouldn't put it past Leiberman's camp to receive tips from Rove's operatives on how to pull the dirty trick. How very Repuke of Lieberman...

Lieberman blames Rove-like tactics for Web site disruption
Challenger Lamont calls charge 'scurrilous,' denies involvement
By Robert Yoon
CNN Washington Bureau
Tuesday, August 8, 2006

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Officials with U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman's re-election campaign blamed "dirty politics" and "Rovian tactics" for what they said was an online attack on their Web site as Connecticut voters headed to the polls Tuesday....

***

The Web site, http://www.joe2006.com, has been unavailable since Monday afternoon. Lieberman campaign manager Sean Smith suggested that the campaign of the senator's primary opponent, Ned Lamont, or his supporters were responsible for the disruption.

"This type of dirty politics has been a staple of the Lamont campaign from the beginning, from the nonstop personal attacks to the intimidation tactics and offensive displays to these coordinated efforts to disable our Web site," said Smith in a statement e-mailed to reporters Monday evening.

"There is no place for these Rovian tactics in Democratic politics, and we demand that our opponent call off his supporters and their online attack dogs."

Tuesday afternoon, the Lieberman campaign formally complained to Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, asking him to investigate attacks on the site.

The Lieberman campaign said Tuesday in a statement: "... The the suspension of displaying the Web site www.joe2006.com was not due to to an overdue account. Friends of Joe Lieberman is completely paid in full. The screen that showed yesterday is a default image from the server. In order to isolate where the denial of service attack was coming into the site, we disabled it as rapidly as possible. Once we were able to isolate all the site files for study, we were able to add an appropriate one-page maintenance message."

60. Joe Lie-berman's office hacked
..."the far left is now running the Democrat Party"............ oh, boy. Up until recently, it seems that the Democrats have been almost indistinguishable from the Republicans.....as the pendulum swings, it seems they're getting back to some of their progressive mentality.

"CT-Sen: Why Lieberman's site is down"
by kos

Tue Aug 08, 2006 at 12:38:27 PM PDT

Two posts down it's clear that Lieberman's website isn't suffering from a Denial of Service attack.

But now I have the definitive answer as to why Lieberman's site went down.

They are paying $15/month for hosting at a place called MyHostCamp, with a bandwidth limit of 10GB. MyHostCamp is currently down, along with all their clients.

Here's the deal -- you get what you pay for. My hosting bill is now over $7K per month. A smaller site doesn't need that much bandwidth, but if you're paying $15 because your $12 million campaign is too freakin' cheap to pay for quality hosting, then don't go blaming your opponent when your shitty service goes out."
