Afghan blast wounds four Italian soldiers

KABUL, July 20 (Reuters) - Four Italian soldiers and their Afghan translator were wounded on Sunday in a missile attack on their convoy in southeastern Afghanistan, a local source and Italian officials said.

The blast happened about 20 km (12 miles) southeast of the town of Gardez and the wounded were evacuated in U.S. military helicopters, Amanullah Zadran, a former cabinet minister in the U.S.-backed government, told Reuters from the region.

"The Italian convoy was heading towards Gardez and one of their cars suffered a direct hit from a missile fired by remote control," he said.
