Rice: U.N. draft alone won't fix Lebanon

By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer 3 minutes ago

CRAWFORD, Texas - Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice described a draft U.N. cease-fire resolution as a first step to stop violence in the Middle East, but said it cannot solve the problems in Lebanon.

Rice said the Lebanese government must extend its authority into the south so the militant Islamic group Hezbollah does not have control. She said the international community must help Lebanese forces be successful over the next several months.

"We're trying to deal with a problem that has been festering and brewing in Lebanon now for years and years and years," Rice said. "And so it's not going to be solved by one resolution in the Security Council.

"These things take awhile to wind down," she said. "It is certainly not the case that probably all violence is going to stop. .. I can't say that you should rule out that there could be skirmishes of some kind for some time to come.".......

2. bush speakes to blaire for 47 minutes Sunday.

Hadley reiterated that the United States would not contribute ground troops to the international force deployed to Lebanon. He said other nations were discussing which will contribute, when they would move in and other logistical matters, but they have been reluctant to move forward without the second resolution. He said he hoped that resolution would be approved "in days, not weeks."

Bush spoke on the phone to British Prime Minister
Tony Blair for 47 minutes Sunday about their strategy for the Middle East. Hadley said Bush had not called the prime ministers of Lebanon or Israel, but "if it will advance the diplomacy, the president will do it."

3. Personally..
.. I think Rice should be confined in a cell in the Hague, along with all the other BushInc criminals.

However, she also has something of a fan club. American Women for Rice just put up a huge billboard in Crawford, Texas saying Rice in 08, since she's coming to visit there and they hope she sees it.

The news show that covered this of course completely ignored Cindy and her group. They oughta put up a billboard, too, right next to Condi's... Americans Want Answers from Bush... NOW.

8. Rice and Bush live in a fantasy world
in which the USA and Israel march across the Middle East taking control of oilfields, except in Saudi Arabia, of course.

Neverending quagmire is the only thing these people are good at.

9. Why do these people move so slow when people are dying?
Hurricane Katrina, while people died daily, they did anything but put forth miniscule excuses.
Lebanon, while people are dying daily they have to wait, but may meet next week to discuss it.

But, they put the countries important business on hold, cancel vacations, meetings, and call emergency sessions to diagnose and pass legislation pertaining to a single person who had been all but pronounced dead years earlier.

Personal behavior that harms no one, demands all of their attention but daily death and destruction deserves only weak excuses for doing nothing.

Shouldn't the opposition publicly ask these questions? Would attention to their inactions allowing people to die daily cause these idiots to get up and do something that might save a life?
