Canadian soldier killed in crash near Kandahar
A Canadian soldier was killed and three others injured, one of them seriously, on Saturday in a traffic accident in southern Afghanistan, military officials said.

Master Cpl. Raymond Arndt, a reservist with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment, died in the accident.

The Canadian soldiers were travelling in an armoured vehicle called a G-wagon on a road 35 kilometres southeast of Kandahar when they collided head-on with a local truck, officials told CBC News.

They were delivering medical supplies to an outpost near the Afghan-Pakistani border when the collision occurred.

I wonder about head-on collisions being accidents.

2. There have been many head-ons in Afghanistan, fatal to foreign troops
Many more than chance would allow.

Two possibilities occur to me:
- troops are driving down the middle of the road at high speed to avoid ambushes and IEDs, and on occasion that results in a head-on.
- locals crash into them on purpose (why not? - there are certainly suicide bombings, and these would have the same effect).

3. I'm Currently Listening to 1940's Blues Music...
I want to drive into a fast-moving vehicle.

God, I hate previous generations that talk about how their music was so much better. So much better for what? Shooting heroin? Sitting back waiting for some sweaty KKK member to lynch their fathers?

Sigh.

And this particular tortuous song seems to be lasting for at least oh, I don't know, the length of the Civil War.

People who love jazz seem to love every note ever blared from a trumpet, regardless of how redundant the music is.

They would be much more accepting of the 21st century rap if only someone would stand behind Eminem blowing a fecking trumpet.

I am so sick of people that idolize these drugged up musicians from the '40's as if they were the end all and be all to music.

No wonder Elvis and the Beatles made such a huge impact on American culture.
