10. CNN is calling it a "first step..."
The general that they interviewed said that this isn't a cease fire, but an agreement as to "language," moving towards a cease fire, which could take weeks or months to implement and, in the meantime, fighting will continue as usual.:-(

4. I don't want another dollar going to Israel, EVER. Let them do whatever
evil they do on their own. Let them rebuild Lebanon, there is much money there and from all their duals all over the world. Let them kick in and pay for the damage and destruction they so gleefully reigned down on innocent people.

7. There are a lot of similarities
and if BushCo had gotten their way, New Orleans would be a war zone by now and the rest of the country would have been under martial law.

16. What practicial difference would it make it they did?
Hezbollah and the IDF have a history of ignoring UN Resolutions. Even Iran called for the disbanding of the SC as late as yesterday.

You are also presuming that the resolution would actually call for something practical and meaningfull, which would be rare. The key will be the text with enforcement provisions...

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States and France reached agreement on Saturday on a U.N. Security Council resolution calling for an end to the fighting between Israel and Lebanon as the first step toward a political settlement of the conflict, French and British officials said.

TYRE, Lebanon (CNN) -- Israeli commandos dropped from helicopters to attack a building in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre Saturday, witnesses said.

Hours later, the United States and France reached agreement on a draft U.N. resolution to end the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas.

The 15-nation Security Council was expected to meet later Saturday and the resolution was likely to be adopted in the next couple of days, the Associated Press cited U.S. ambassador John Bolton as saying.

11. Dolton saying "likely to be adopted" doesn't mean much.
We will have to see what the other UNSC members think, and Israel and Hizbullah too.

The US and France agree. Like who the hell are we? Did anyone bother to ask the parties involved in the conflict?

14. Well, that is a good question, who appointed the US and France?
Private deals made among "friends" don't tend to solve conflicts.

17. Condi is on her way from Crawford to NY for the vote.

U.S. Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice was at
President George W. Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, but will head back for a vote.

"She will be prepared to go to New York," U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

Since fighting began, the U.N. Security Council has failed to take any action to stop it, primarily because of opposition from the United States, Israel's closest ally.

Any deal will have to gain the acceptance of both Israel and Hezbollah, which could prove difficult.

Israel says it wants to continue fighting for up to two weeks to seriously diminish Hezbollah's military capability; Hezbollah's chief spokesman said Thursday the militia will not agree to a cease-fire until all Israeli troops leave Lebanon.

21. This latest UN resolution will do no justice to the poor, the weak,
and the children of Lebanon. Overall, this does not address reprobation and war crimes perpetrated against Lebanon.
