RICHMOND -- Former radio talk show host Jon Matthews surrendered at the Fort Bend County jail today after an arrest warrant was issued for him for allegedly violating probation.

Matthews received a seven-year deferred adjudication sentence two years ago when he pleaded guilty to a charge of indecency with a child.

According to court records, Matthews, 61, tested positive for alcohol, and was discussing sexual fantasies over the Internet.

Matthews was placed on probation after he admitted exposing himself to an 11-year-old girl in October 2003 in his Sugar Land home.

After successfully completing all seven years of the deferred adjudication his criminal record would not show a conviction but according to the current plea, he would still have to register as a sex offender for another 10 years.

In the article, I noted that right after he leered at the little girl kids, he also was big enough to take a kick at Mexican-American kids who went to the fair, as well. It appears he doesn't believe there should be "race mixing" at the fair:

9. In the late 70s and early 80s, Jon Mathews was on the long-defunct 97 Rock

as half of the "Moby and Mathews" morning show (signature phrase: "git yer lazy asses up!!!").

He had a talk show on Sunday nights and would interview "witches" (Wiccans) and talk about UFOs and aliens, kind of like a local sub-par Art Bell.

When 97 Rock changed formats, Mathews disappeared for quite a while. One day in the late 90s while scanning the AM dial for traffic reports (as one does in Houston), I was surprised to hear none other than Jon Mathews on KPRC, having risen from the FM ashes to be reborn as a hard-line Xtofascist RW-er.

Dan Patrick owned both KPRC and KSEV. IIRC, he sold KPRC to Clear Channel about 5 or 6 years ago and kept KSEV as his special Xian bigotry-spewing mouthpiece. At the time of sale, Mathews went with Patrick to KSEV, or more correctly, Mathews' show was switched from KPRC to KSEV, where he remained until being busted for the ahole pedophile that he is.

It's all about the $$$ for Mr. Hypocrite Mathews (and it looks like he's gonna need it!) since he expressed no qualms about being part of "Moby and Mathews" (a slightly tamer forerunner to Walton and Johnson), which is exactly the kind of "librul trash" he proceeded to rant against later on KSEV!
