Israel bombs Beirut bridges
Israel bombs Beirut bridges

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Israeli warplanes pounded areas around Beirut Friday, demolishing three bridges to the north and one linking the city to the south.

The Lebanese Red Cross said at least four civilians were killed in Israel's first major strikes on a Christian area to the north of Beirut, the Arutz Sheva online media network reported.

A Lebanese soldier died in a strike on an army base and three people died when a building collapsed in the Dahiyeh neighborhood, a Hezbollah stronghold in South Beirut.

Israeli missiles also damaged a power plant that provides most of the electricity in southern Lebanon and the western Bekaa valley, LBC said.

1. How many power plants have these invaders hit? More oil in the gulf?
This is insanity. Why is the world silently watching?

The Lebonese government should step up and help take out Hezbollah. I dont want to say they didnt have this coming, but...

Israel is doing whats best right now. Rockets today kept hitting further south into Israel. Lets face it, if a neighboring country constantly rained rockets down on the majority of American cities, wouldnt you want to try to eliminate the threat in all of that neighboring country?

I am sick and tired of people on this site criticizing Israel. I dont think Israel has done anything wrong. This is the right step, this is, in my view, actually persuing a War on Terror.

Bush's messed up invasions elsewhere in the Middle East served as nothing but to bolster his support and get his friends more money, but here we have Israel actually taking charge against a prominant Terrorist orginization thats funded by Iran and Syria.

Israel has warned citizens for the past few weeks that staying in areas occupied by Hezbollah would only mean trouble. Hezbollah's goal is only to wipe out Israel and all of its Jewish citizens.

Israel should soon cut back its strikes, but right now its the right, and unfortunutly the only path.
