Nashville Tennessean/AP: Bill Clinton praises Al Gore at Tennessee rally
Clinton praises Gore at Tennessee rally
By ERIK SCHELZIG
Associated Press Writer

Former President Bill Clinton wasn't just supporting current Democratic candidates at a Tennessee political rally Thursday night.

Speaking to supporters of Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Harold Ford Jr., Clinton also praised Al Gore, his former vice president...."I ran a partnership, not a one-man show," Clinton said about his presidency. "And if it hadn't been for Al Gore, a lot of those things wouldn't have happened."

Clinton said he has been "tickled" to see the global response to Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth."

"I called him the other day and told him: 'You know Hillary and I went to see your movie at our local theater. The first time, we couldn't get in, it was full,"' he said. "We had to just walk away and walk on home."...

"It's heartwarming to see him continue to make such a positive difference in the world, and I know you're all very proud of him," he said to loud cheers from the partisan crowd. "And you should be."...

one reply and eight recommends looks kind of lonely.

3. That's just beautiful
Al Gore is a great person. I'm so proud of him for all he's done for our country. Sure wish he could have had the job he was elected for. Things would certainly be a lot better in this world. :patriot: :woohoo:

6. As an aside...
I find it very hard to believe that Bill and Hill couldn't into the movie. You mean to tell me that a former president, a current U.S. Senator, and a friend of Al Gore couldn't get into to view the movie...even if it was packed? No special favors? VIP treatment?

...AND they *WALKED* home???

Finding that very hard to believe...

12. Maybe they don't pull rank
and shove people aside the way rethug assholes do. I can't imagine anyone in the B*sh misadministration acting civilized and walking away like that.

5. Gore is the one in 2008!
He can deal with all of the problems created by Bush, and he inspires confidence.

7. My favorite quote from the article
"Gore says he has no plans to run for the presidency in 2008, but he hasn't ruled it out yet, either." Thank you Erik Schelzig for this quote because, for once, it is a true assessment of what Gore has been saying.

13. it will be fun to watch how Bill handles this relationship
if both Hillary and Al are running in 2008. Hope he doesn't get ugly with Al and, yet, he'll have to be seen as helping his wife. That will be some tightrope to walk.

14. and if anyone could walk that tight rope
it's the Big Dawg. In fact, he could do ballet on it blindfolded. It was great to see Ford speaking w/Clinton, Bredesen, and the legendary Ned Ray ALL visibly sitting behind him....

:D

15. Gore would have been our president
if the aspen media hadn't been going on about how (teehee) he thinks he invented the internet, and (titter titter) he wears earth tones, and (ha ha) he's wooden and (gee) people don't trust him and (HAR HAR) he believes in global warming and silly man wants to put your social security into a LOCK BOX.

Rat bastards. They did a character assassination on an honest, capable man so they could install their little war puppet.

18. "titter titter" had me laughing. Great post.
An excellent, succinct summary of the juvenile media's complicity in getting us where we are today.
