Army: Second son's death was suicide
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/08/03/second.son.killed.ap/index.html?section=cnn_topstories

One of two brothers who died while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan committed suicide, family and military officials said Thursday.

Army Spc. Andrew Velez, 22, died last month in Afghanistan, a little more than a year after his older brother, Cpl. Jose "Freddy" Velez, 23, was killed in Iraq. They are the first brothers to die in the two conflicts, the military said.

A military document, confirmed by the family, says Velez shot himself July 25. Military officials and the soldier's father said Velez had been having marital problems.

Roy Velez said his grief keeps him up at night.

Roy Velez holds two stones with a soldier's prayer he carried to remind him of his two sons in the military.

1. i think it's likely that what he was going through with the war
being away from family, losing his brother etc probably contributed to the marital problems and in turn his suicide.

that soldier who was captured in that famous pic showing him smoking also got divorced after just a month of marriage. he made it clear it was because of problems due to his war experience.

after everything we learned, it looks like they still aren't taking these issues seriously.

i saw some freepers attack that soldier i mention above in the smoking pic . they said he was lying and how they know people who served in the military and never got a divorce, that's why he just has to be making it up . what a bunch of ignorant assholes.

2. Does the military usually release this kind of information?
