German newspaper reports Iran freed son of al-Qaeda leader from house arrest with aim of sending him to Syria-Lebanon border following outbreak of war between Israel, Hizbullah

Iran has freed a son of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden from house arrest, a German newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Die Welt said the Iranian Revolutionary Guard released Saad bin Laden on July 28 with the aim of sending him to the Syria-Lebanon border. It linked the reported move to the outbreak of war between Israel and Lebanese-based Hizbullah.

"From the Lebanese border, he has the task of building Islamist terror cells and preparing them to fight together with Hizbullah," Die Welt said, quoting intelligence information.

12. Ah, that oh-so-reliable anonymous "intelligence information"
about the Middle East. Yes, they've never fed anything to newspapers about the Middle East with an ulterior motive. Every one of their stories has been 100% correct. Good thing it's not about any countries that the Bush administration have a grudge against, like Iran, or Syria, or an organisation like Hezbollah. Or a person like bin Laden. Then you might just have to be a little bit suspicious.

13. They quote German Die Welt tabloid
Die Welt is owned by Right-Wing anti-Muslim Springer Media.

Die Welt owned by the country’s largest print media company, Springer, published insulting expressions against Prophet Mohammed in the commentary accompanied by one of the caricatures on its first page.

http://www.zaman.com/?bl=international&alt=&trh=20060202&hn=29318

Springer: He went on to launch and acquire a string of papers - most resolutely anti-intellectual, in line with his comment that too much reflection was bad for Germans - and magazines characterised by entertainment and conservative politics. The Axel Springer Verlag today is one of the major magazine and newspaper publishers in Germany with over 180 newspapers and magazines in circulation- 23.7% of the German market in 1999

15. Makes it sound
like bin Laden's son is some kind of secret weapon, like a bionic man they can unleash on their enemies.

(In reality, they're more likely to send him there to get rid of him...I doubt Shi'ites have any fondness for al-Qaeda).

The usual PSYOP BS.

Die Welt is a right-wing newspaper. They got this "information" from intelligence sources (without specifying the nationality: could be German, could be Israeli...).
http://www.welt.de/data/2006/08/03/984087.html

Note how they are able to link Sunni al-Qaeda not only to Shiite Iran (supposedly freeing the son of bin Laden), but also to secular Syria where this Sunni extremist is supposed to find recruits among the Shiite refugees (!) of southern Lebanon.

Usually the information about al-Qaeda in Iran comes from Iranian dissidents who are about as reliable as Ahmad Chalabi.

The New York Post also ran the story ("OSAMA'S EVIL SPAWN IN LEB"):

17. History repeats itself - rival groups unite to fight off a common enemy
.
.
.

Once the invader is gone

They will continue their internal battles

It's always been that way

Always will

USA ain't learned that yet -

Russia did (Afghanistan)

Britain did (Iriaq circa 1920)

and native Canadians did when the natives banded together to fight with us Canuks to keep you Murikans out of here - -

and so on . . . .
