Chavez withdraws Venezuelan envoy citing Israeli 'genocide'
Chavez withdraws Venezuelan envoy citing Israeli 'genocide'

By The Associated Press

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Thursday he has recalled his country's ambassador to Israel to show his "indignation" over the military offensive in Lebanon.

"We have ordered the withdrawal of our ambassador in Israel," Chavez said in a televised speech, calling Israeli attacks in Lebanon "genocide."

"It really causes indignation to see how the state of Israel continues bombing, killing ... with all of the power they have, with the support of the United States," Chavez said after a military parade in the northwestern state of Falcon.

17. Who cares what Israel thinks?
As long as Israel remains an aggressor nation, and continues to lie like the USA, I don't care what Israel thinks or says.

Israel's aggressive war in Lebanon is an obscenity, and Chavez is responding appropriately by recalling his ambassador.

Stop the bombing!

6. Chavez withdraws Venezuela ambassador in Israel
... "I have ordered the withdrawal of our ambassador in Israel," Chavez said during a speech in western Venezuela. He said the move was in response to "our indignation at seeing how the state of Israel continues ... bombarding, killing, quartering."

Chavez has accused the U.S. government of fomenting violence in the Middle East, and recently blamed an "Israeli elite" for the armed conflict in Lebanon ...

8. GENOCIDE
IS the correct word. Israel is dropping depleted uranium bombs all over Lebanon and, as is the *MIC in Iraq, committing GENOCIDE.

10. GENOCIDE IS the correct word - exactly - cutting off supply lines for aid
.
.
.

That word came to my mind when I read an article regarding how almost all aid is cut off because of them bombing crucial bridges and roads that were lined up with convoys of food, bedding, medical stuff and so on -

They weren't bombing roads where reinforcement troops or anything like that were coming in

The Israelis bombed the roads that were bringing in THE NECESSITIES OF LIFE!!

I never had a real negative attitude towards Israel before

Now I do . . .

I never had a real negative attitude against the USA before their attack on Iraq

Now I do . .

and there are probably a few billion people around the globe that feel the same way

14. That doesn't make it a genocide.
People are going to throw that word around until it's completely meaningless.

18. Perhaps the disconnect
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 02:03 PM by Karenina
is an inability, due to a sense of hierarchy, to perceive and relate to "the other" as an equal. Preserving the word as a description of sufferings, defined by you in comparison to what you perceive as "your own" is nothing more than an assumption of superiority. The word has meaning ONLY when it is applied to you and yours and others with similar claims simply need not apply as, by definition, they are inferior.

Israel is currently POISONING Lebanon with DU supplied by the *MIC. It's unimaginably dull-witted, as the dust will ALSO POISON Israel. But please do carry on.

12. I don't think it is genocide yet.
But it smacks of collective punishment - a war crime.

15. You really don't see the difference...
...between bombing roads and gas chambers?

I'm sorry, but millions of people are not going to die because of this. I would also point out that numbers are completely irrelevant as to whether or not genocide has been committed.

19. Ah... I see...
25% of Lebanon's population has been displaced and now the ENTIRE POPULATION is being exposed to an agent that has a half-life of FOREVER, guaranteeing that civilians will be weakened, sickened and dying into the forseeable future and the numbers are irrelevant. Do I get it? There are 4-5 million Lebanese and if they ALL succumb to poisoned land, air, water, a lack of food, medical supplies or phyical/emotional TRAUMA their NUMBERS are IRRELEVANT? Even the Nazis acknowledged the victims of their atrocities by registering them. The Lebanese Üntermenschen shall be afforded no such courtesy.

Lebanon is also a "tiny country" but please do carry on.

16. Exactly right, Hugo!! Right ON!!
they're creating their own holocaust in the Middle East and it's been going on for decades.

From the article:

..."The Israeli elite repeatedly criticize Hitler's actions against the Jews, and indeed Hitler's actions must be criticized, not just against the Jews but against the world," Chavez said during his visit to Iran, adding: "It's also fascism what Israel is doing to the Palestinian people ... terrorism and fascism."

Venezuela pulls out Israel ambassador

Friday 04 August 2006, 21:01 Makka Time, 18:01 GMT

In a televised speech on Thursday, he called the Israeli attacks "genocide".

He said: "It really causes indignation to see how the state of Israel continues bombing, killing ... with all of the power they have, with the support of the United States."

Chavez has repeatedly criticised the Israeli offensive.

He said: "It's hard to explain to oneself how nobody does anything to stop this horror."

His government has until recently said it had good relations with Israel.

During a recent visit to Iran, Chavez called Israeli attacks on Lebanon a "fascist outrage".

He said: "The Israeli elite repeatedly criticise Hitler's actions against the Jews, and indeed Hitler's actions must be criticised, not just against the Jews but against the world. It's also fascism what Israel is doing to the Palestinian people ... terrorism and fascism."
