Harper (Canadian Alliance leader) fires (MP) Spencer for anti-gay remarks
Edited on Thu Nov-27-03 06:51 PM by Some Moran
When our "far-right" party won't even tolerate this crap, I have yet another reason to be a proud Canadian. :)

1. Srephen Harper probably has the same views.
But he's too politically savvy to speak them out loud.

3. I don't think so...
If you were talking about Day, I'd agree though.

Even before he was a prominent MP, Harper was viewed as being moderate on gay issues relative to other CCRAP members.

I wouldn't say he's as accepting as Rahim Jaffer (the token CCRAP social liberal...That's or it's just an act to entice Tories), but he's hardly a fundie-Nazi.

4. Oh be serious
all the CA thinks that way.

And this guy didn't change his mind, he just was forced to apologize.

Looks bad for the upcoming merger.

6. I'm still voting NDP next year...lol
I'm not sure the merger's that terrible though. :) If the Conservatives get strong enough, the Libs may be forced into an alliance with the NDP (well, maybe not next year, but in 2008 or so).

5. Headline says firs not fires
And I can't say I'm surprised. Harper's not a nut, he's just not the sort of guy to tolerate the weak old traditional conservatives (and to that extent I can agree).

7. Thanks...I'm really surprised to hear this crap from him...
He represents Regina, and as anybody who knows a bit about the history of the CCF/NDP can attest, Regina is hardly a hot spot for the extreme right.

9. Well sorta...
THere is a 'bile' belt of sorts outside of the urban centers in SK--Spencer only bearly won his seat. He'll be gone the next time.

Quite polarized...in the last provincial election all city ridings went to the New Dems and all the rural ridings to the Alliance/Saskatchewan Party...in fact, even during the reign of Tommy, the NDP never had much luck out in the RMs

10. For sure...
Also, his eyes are set like half an inch too close together, a clear sign of mental defects. He reminds me of Santorum that way.
