Flood victims wish Bush would meet them

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The president was visiting, but most people hard hit by northeast Ohio floods had other things to worry about Wednesday.
Muck and scorching heat created a pungent stench similar to the aroma of the pachyderm area of a zoo as residents pulled out furniture, appliances and an array of personal items, including clothing covered in mud and mold.
...
But some wished the president was touring their streets instead of meeting with politicians in Mentor, not nearly as damaged as Painesville and elsewhere in the area.
He was stopping by an emergency management bunker on his way to a fundraiser for GOP gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell (a metaphor for his administration if I ever heard one--TBA), who greeted Bush at the Cleveland airport with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar.
"I'm sure he understands," Stacey Kovalchuk, 34, said about Bush as she tossed more debris from her home on a growing pile of trash and mud that was her driveway. "I'd like him to smell the smell we have down here and I'd like to ask him if he'd like to have to move back in here. This was a very nice place. It was nice, quiet and beautiful, and now look at it."
...
An hour before the president was to appear with Lake County Emergency Management officials, one protester showed up and was kept several hundred yards away from
the bunker. No supporters were present.
Werner Lange, an activist who calls himself an independent candidate for Congress in the 14th District, carried two signs in near 100-degree heat:
"Impeach Bush" and "Master of Disaster." Akron Beacon Journal
http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/15181683.htm I just lost any respect I ever had for Bernie Kosar. I remember that dork playing catch with old Bush when he was running in 1992.
