2. Israel is playing into Hezbollah's hands. Hezbollah's strategic
aim (or at least one of them) is to draw Israel into a war of attrition that will sap morale on the Israeli home front. Hezbollah has now succeeded beyond its wildest dreams. Way to go, Israel, playing into your opponent's hands.

3. Since Hezbollah only has to continue to exist
to "win" I'd say this whole Israeli adventure has been a failure since before it began.

Fourth generation warfare people...you win by not losing. Unless you are a state. Then you don't win at all.

5. Or it is like Tsarist Russia in 1914.
They lost just by entering a war they had no possibility of winning and with an uneasy grip on much of their territory. Or occupied territory.

6. Reminds me more of August 1914 in general, when
Hohenzollern German administration gave Austria-Hungary a "blank check" to whack Serbia, after a group of Serb nationalists had assassinated the Habsburg Archduke Ferdinand.

Of course, Austria-Hungary's attack on Serbia brought Russia in on the Serbian side, which brought Germany in on the Austria-Hungarian side, etc. etc.

So U.S. gives Israel a "blank check" to whack Lebanon, after Lebanese nationalists (Hezbollah) "attack" Israel. Israel's invasion of Lebanon galvanizes the Arab street and forces Syria into the war on Lebanon's behalf, etc. etc. etc.

4. Three families destroyed-
They should not have been there fighting
the Bush Neocon KKKabal's empirical war in the
first place.
Anymore than the men and women who have died in
the US occupation of Iraq.
