Cops: Wife pulls gun on pastor in church (Over Text Msg to Mmb Youth Grp)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060801/ap_on_fe_st/preacher_s_wife;_ylt=AgyW1cv.Rn9IUaBqku2Uv2Ks0NUE;_ylu=X3oDMTA3NW1oMDRpBHNlYwM3NTc-

A preacher's wife was arrested after police say she pulled a gun on her husband because she allegedly was upset over text messages he had sent to a member of a church youth group.

Tammy Estes surrendered to law officers at the Pentecostal Church of God in Newport after a brief standoff at the church Sunday evening. No one was injured.

She was taken to the Jackson County Detention Center. She was expected to be arraigned Monday.

Police say a church service had just begun when Estes pulled a gun on her husband, preacher Larry Estes, about 7 p.m. According to congregation members, she was upset over messages Larry Estes allegedly exchanged with a youth group member and she demanded he admit infidelity.

Posted cause I just love the hypocrisy of many of these evangelicals!

8. Why I sympathize with Miss Tammy. When your man does you
wrong, what can a poor God-fearing girl do but reach into her purse for her pistol?

12. The pastor and Tammy were lovers. Oh lordy how they could love
They swore to be true to each other.
Just as true to the Man Above.
He was her man, but he was doing her wrong...

3. I wonder if the "alleged" youth group member is still
an "alleged" virgin or if the "alleged" activity included everything but vaginal sex, which is what those who promise to be virgins do. As one pundit put it, those young "christians" have porn star sex. Wonder how the "alleged" perpetrator of this criminal act perform.

And think of all the activity which goes on with these hypocrites that we don't find out about.

I don't know though. According to the information at the link, this preacher's also a plumber. And let's face it, those guys make their livings pushing their "roto-rooters" into holes. ;-)

5. The only girl who would ever shoot me
Was the wife of a preacher man...

Didn't some preacher's wife off the preacher a few months ago in Tennessee? I think these fuckers may be a little too high strung. Meanwhile, the Pastor's banging the youth group member. Jeez-us. My wife and I are confirmed atheists, and we can't stand a moralizer, but damned if we don't live more "moral" lives than some of these Christian fundamentalists.

9. Yep - interesting twist to the wife murdered preacher case
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/07/20/419_shooting/

A row over money which provoked a US woman to shoot dead her husband may have been exacerbated by the couple's fleecing by 419 scammers, AP reports.

Mary Winkler, of Selmer, Tennessee, allegedly shot her preacher husband in the back with a 12-gauge shotgun as he lay in bed on 22 March. The body of Matthew Winkler, described as "the popular minister at the Fourth Street Church of Christ", was discovered later that evening by members of his church.

<snip>

The Winklers' money troubles appear to have stemmed from a 419 "sweepstake" scam in which victims are are told they've won a pot of cash, receive cheques for the partial amount against which they draw "processing fees" for immediate return to the scammers, and too late realise that the cheques are bogus and they've been had.

The amount lost by the Winklers is unknown, although the authorities confirmed that Mary Winkler "deposited several checks from Canada and Nigeria for a total of $17,500". Defense attorney Steve Farese said: "All I know is they entered sweepstakes. They got these checks in the mail, and they made calls to activate them.

"They were always kind of living on the edge of their budget, so I'm sure this would have just wrecked their budget."

IMHO you have to be really stupid, senile, or damn greedy to fall for one of these scams.

13. Oh yeah! I remember seeing that on the news
My wife and I were like "The fucking Nigerian scams? OMFG you have to be a complete idiot to fall for that one!" It's funny. On the Secret Service page for the 419 scam, it reads something like "You would think that nobody could actually fall for this, but hundreds of Americans every year...etc" It's like the Secret Service guy in charge of writing the description was pulling his hair out at the general stupidity. And yet, there it is. Now, you don't only have to be stupid to fall for it, you also have to be incredibly greedy.

19. She is stupid....
She blew her top and now she's locked up. Hubby is free to commiserate with the youth group member. Being an obsessively jealousy person, this poor woman will now be terrorized by her own thoughts while waiting for the process to grind on and on...

So stupid...she should have gotten a lawyer to pull a financial gun instead...hope she gets treatment at least.

I know, but I've been taught, and believe, do NOT EVER pull out the gun unless you are prepared to use it. So true! :P

On edit: Best put this in lest you think of me as serious. :sarcasm:

22. Not necessary...
for the sarcasm tag (I figured as much ;-)

Actually if you think about it...she should have shot him in the dick. She would have gotten much of the same sympathy as Lorraine Bobbitt did with the same media circus quality of a jilted wife getting the cad where it hurts...

I guess she was probably just upset and not thinking too clearly...I tend to think she is probably the victim in all this...regardless of whether she is a fundie goofball.

25. She should have gotten up in worship
to give a "testimonial" and then called him out in front of the whole congregation. What could he say? Just the suspicion would kill his career.

No gun, no jail time. And everyone's a winner!

24. I have a character flaw
I tend to take inordinate pleasure when religious folks self-destruct. Late at night I think of the total collapse of organized religion and what that might mean to our lives. Surely we would find other reasons to kill each other but methinks the carnage would be lessened, greatly. I am an agnostic, I am honest with myself, I don't have a f---ing clue why I am here. Pat Robertson worships a god that will cure your sore shoulder while he lets a quarter million perish in a sunami. The mentally incompetent who follow him can't write the checks fast enough. They drive their suvs to the mall, microwave their lunches, buy the batteries for their vibrators with a bank card and still they deny huge chunks of science. This religion thing is a serious threat to my grandkids.
