Bush Approval Stable at 40%
No change in demographic patterns of support

PRINCETON, NJ -- A weekend USA Today/Gallup poll finds no sign that the violence between Israel and Hezbollah in the Middle East, nor the Bush administration's reaction to the conflict, is affecting U.S. public opinion of President George W. Bush. According to the July 28-30 survey, 40% of Americans now approve of the job Bush is doing as president, while 56% disapprove. This is statistically unchanged from the previous four readings in June and July, when Bush approval ranged from 37% to 40%.

Bush's average job approval score for the second quarter of 2006 (from April 20 to July 19) was 36%, slightly lower than his current rating, primarily because of poor ratings in May when he reached his all-time low approval of 31%. That quarter ranks as the worst of Bush's presidency, and among the worst for all presidents in the past six decades. Only Harry Truman, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, and George H. W. Bush, in the worst periods of their presidencies, scored lower quarterly averages.

Bush's current rating is similar to the 39% average recorded in the first quarter of the year, although still slightly below the 43% high mark of the year recorded in a January poll.

10. I concur...
In my community, I can't find even 10% that approve of Bush. Which is strange considering I live in a RED state. HMMMMMMMMMMMM?:eyes:

The number is higher than usual because the Evage-idiots are about to wet themselves due to the Isreali- Lebanon conflict. Pastor Hagge was on the other day telling Americans to either support Israel or go to hell, then he called Rice an intelligent, peaceful ambassador. What the hell are the putting in the communion wine these days?

If anyone has a Christian friend trying to rally support for Israel, kindly tell tell them that Christ has told them to "love thine enemy" and "show mercy for the children" but yet NO WHERE has he called for holy wars. Holy Wars are created by politicians who use religion to exploit foolish people.

Crap... I've gone of on a tangent on my very first post....

I'll just end on this...

If God is watching you now, would he be pleased to see that you are killing in his name or would he smile on the one who mourns for the children who have been killed?

6. Gallup is overstating it's own numbers.
Look at their last 4 polls : 37, 40, 37, 40 - average 40? Go back further and it's even worse.

Stable at 40? Who's bull shitting who?

8. I know it's Gallup and it skews favorably for Republicans BUT...
...even if Bush is rating higher than in recent months, who are these people being polled who think the President is doing a better job now than just three months ago? Gas prices are back through the roof, we're barely in control of Baghdad's Green Zone, and Bush's criminal negligence of the Israel-Lebanon crisis has set the stage for the entire Middle East to blow up. That's not to mention Bush basically told sick people to drop dead with his stem cell veto. Who the hell thinks Bush is doing a better job now?! Gallup and its polling subjects are completely detached from reality.

9. I am not shocked as it is going to be hard to make people see things
Going into countries full blast with guns is a way of life for many Am. and even if we have not won a war that way in about 50 years the thought that 'might makes right' is going to stay with people for ages. Bush and RR were into that. It has been slowly dying since WW1 when 100,000 men were in stands off and it did not work but some what worked in WW2 so the man who tells half the people that the army will do it all and we will be safe with a great one, will stay tall for a lot of people for a long while. The few people who say look at it in another way, say like Carter, are just put off. But they are out there. We are just going to have to live through people who see nothing like Bush until people learn. Or maybe Bush takes us down.

12. Doesn't matter if it's true. The point is to make it close to 50% so
elections can plausibly be stolen.

14. Notice this is always Bush*'s approval is such and such
Never Bush*'s disapproval ratings stay well above fifty percent. Or Majority of Americans continue to disapprove of Bush*. That would not be beneficial for the Administration so it is never worded in that manner. Words matter..
