UN aid convoy reaches Beirut
A UNITED Nations humanitarian convoy arrived in Beirut from Syria on Saturday bring 140 tonnes of emergency aid equipment for civilians displaced by Israel's ongoing bombardment of Lebanon, the UN said here.

The convoy brought blankets, mattresses and cooking equipment to be distributed among people taking refuge in mountainous areas outside the capital, a statement from the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said.

The agency's vehicles had previously been delayed in Damascus due to security concerns prompted by the Israeli attacks. Saturday's delivery followed calls by the UN's top official for refugees, Antonio Guterres, for humanitarian staff to be granted safe access to the country to help the displaced.

The UNHCR estimates up to 800,000 people in Lebanon - almost a fifth of the country's population - have fled their homes under the Israeli assault, which is aimed at crushing anti-Israeli Hezbollah militants in the country.

1. I just hope they can get supplies to the people in remote areas.
The roads are bombed to hell and 95% of the bridges have been blown up, and that figure was from several days ago.

3. Read earlier that Beiruit Airport is now open
though you have to coordinate with the IDF to go in and out. Assume its C-130 kind of aircraft not commercial.

4. But can the UN trust that coordination with the IDF
If the UN calling the IDF ten times asking them to please stop bombing UN workers did nothing but get more bombs and death, why should the UN believe the IDF when they say they would not bomb the UN when using the airport?
