Top (Hollywood) Stars Donated to Sen. Hillary Clinton
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 12:54 AM by Sam Odom
By DEVLIN BARRETT
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON

If Hollywood has a "DaVinci Code," Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has cracked it.

Top stars such as Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson donated to the New York senator in recent months, generating the kind of cash usually associated with a major box office opening _ or a potential presidential bid in 2008...

Clinton has spent millions on direct mailings to prospective donors. In the most recent three-month period, she spent more than $200,000 on postage alone. The campaign paid nearly $650,000 to a company that handles direct mail business.

The records also provided a tantalizing clue for would-be Clinton sleuths that she's serious about a White House run: two bills for unidentified campaign worker travel at the Hampton Inn in Des Moines, Iowa, the state with the first caucus in the presidential nomination process.

1. Who do we know these stars have endorsed before?
Who do we know Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson have endorsed before?

Why would these "Californians" take such interest in the New York Senate race?

Something is amiss here, no?

9. I don't know about the other two but
Tom Hanks is a long-time Clinton supporter as well as a consistent donor to Democrats in general.

20. You can get an idea at newsmeat.com
more specifically at http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/ where you can search by name.

Some Californian actors spend time in NY working, promoting their current endeavors or visiting. Perhaps some of them donate because they feel a kinship with a state that they spend time in.

5. Why not? Hillary's been a good actress lately herself.
She once played the role of a progressive Democrat to some acclaim.

19. You have my blessings
Hillary's enabling of the war in Iraq, and her shameful cheerleading of Israel's bombing of Beirut and the killings of Lebanese civilians, makes her anathema to the antiwar movement. Her nomination for President will spell disaster at the polls.

25. I hope you do
Although I don't know who you voted for, I do hold Iowa Democratic caucus voters partially responsible for giving us the milquetoast John Kerry in 2004.
