Putin gets green light to send commandos after terrorists

Russian lawmakers unanimously passed a bill Friday that will allow President Vladimir Putin to dispatch a team of special forces to hunt down terrorists anywhere around the globe.

Putin made the request after five Russian diplomats were killed in Iraq by insurgents.

The Russian leader has said that he wants the militants tracked down and "eliminated." Security services are offering a $10-million reward for information leading to the capture of the killers.

Russian officials defended the decision to use commandos, saying their deployment is in line with international practice.
