Clinton addresses nation's newest problems

Back in Aspen, former President Bill Clinton sounded off on a multitude of problems confronting the nation Friday that included disease, destruction and Karl Rove.

As for Rove, who is scheduled to speak at the Aspen Institute on Sunday, Clinton didn't hold back when Atlantic Monthly national correspondent James Fallows asked him what one question he would ask President Bush's highly controversial political operative.

Always the overachiever, Clinton didn't invent just one question he would ask Rove, he came up with three. The 42nd president said he most wanted to know what Rove would do had Clinton's senior advisor blown the cover of a CIA agent who happened to be married to the man who refused to falsify findings about nuclear transactions taking place between Niger and Iraq (see Valerie Plame). And he openly wondered whether Rove would instruct Republican congressmen to call a White House official who would do such a thing a traitor. Lastly, Clinton wanted to know why it is that, if the Bush administration is as concerned with national security as it claims, why it would spend 20 times the amount of money it would take to shore up gaps in port security to repeal the estate tax for the nation's elite, which consists of less than one percent of the population.

Speaking to the first question he'd ask Rove, Clinton said; "I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he'd say that's exactly what I'd ask (Congress) to do, and I don't know why they didn't. I mean this guy is good. You don't understand this strip of the Republican party that controls everything basically," Clinton said. "These people are all white Protestant males. They don't do anything that surprises me. I've seen this my whole life."

6. Great story to follow, seeing Rove is appearing there on Sunday...
Interesting, if James Fallows will (have the audacity to repeat) and ask him the questions posed by Clinton..

5. Rove pimping the far right wing Christian zealots
He had them on his mailing list to get them out to vote for wedge issues such as gays. Rove primed them and played them like a fiddle.

W has been one of the most deceptive politicians we've ever had. His legacy will show that.

4. Clinton talks to the people, and beautifully
W talks to his donors. W is the president of the far right wing extremists and the rich GOP and history will record him as such.

Rove is a cheap whore.

If we could only have Clinton back as president again. His detente provided a peace dividend. W's bankrupting us.

7. The people who really control are not ALL white protestant men.
The neocon are not ALL Chriatian but that's how smart they are to make you want to believe that. Perele, Wolfowitz, Frum, etc. are NOT white, protestants. And everyone should seriously think and research this. Even the "dog" has fallen for this false premise.

16. How do the Neo-Cons work for WCP? It seems to me they work for
themselves and their own ideologies which conveniently always seem to put Israel's protection first.

I think Clinton was being careful not to anger much of Hillary's support in New York. That's kind of a low thing for him to do, imho. Also brings racism into the issue which I don't like either.

It's not that the Bushies aren't WCP and a dynasty, but it's more that they have been used by special interests on all sides to achieve goals. Both Bushies are figureheads...just as amiable Reagan was used by forces of all ethnic persuasions.

12. Rice is Protestant, but neither white nor male.
Neither is Meirs. Gutierrez and Gonzales are not classified as "white" by many, although Gutierrez probably has many Spaniards in his family tree.

The Scalitos and Thomas are Roman Catholic--Thomas of course is highly pigmented.

And let's not forget Scooter Libby!

These people are all either evil corporatist pigs or lunatic neocons who pay lip service to conservative Christians, including Roman Catholics, when they need votes.

Characterizing a group of like-minded individuals solely by the majority of their genders, religions and skin colors results in the tarring of all individuals with said characteristics while denying that anyone who does not possess those characteristics should be tarred.

Clinton's gift is sincere inclusiveness. The remark in question is, IMHO, beneath him.
