Bush to hold ("Full Scale") Friday news conference

WASHINGTON - President Bush will hold a news conference Friday in Chicago as the White House explores new venues for putting the president before the public.

It will be his first full scale news conference since June 14 in the Rose Garden on his return from a surprise visit to Iraq.

Friday's session, around 11 a.m. EDT, is expected to run about an hour and be open to Chicago-area press as well as the White House press corps that accompanies the president, said Dan Bartlett, the president's counselor.

Bartlett said the Chicago trip was the beginning of occasional presidential trips around the country to learn what's on Americans' minds.

Often when Bush travels, he stays in a community for only a short time and talks about one issue, Bartlett said. "This gives him a opportunity to cover a broader range of subjects in the local community," Bartlett said.

Do they Hire These Freaks??....

3. so toadies and stooges will get to beg bush to answer for a change
that's a tuneout for sure.

I would like to see one of those brown nosers tell bush he is NOT to call them by pet names.
If they won't stand up for the constitution at least the "reporters" could stand up for themselves.

6. And here is how the Liar In Chief is gonna do this:
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 07:53 PM by Rabrrrrrr
They'll show up in Chicago, make the announcement to the world that the White House Press Corps AS WELL AS Chicago media will be there, and will be allowed to ask questions.

HOWEVER - the onloy Chicago media allowed to speak will be hand-picked ones who support the president, and they'll all ask questions like, "Mr. President, the media says that your approval ratings are way down - but we're not seeing that in Chicago. All we see are good Americans who want you to continue doing what you're doing, who support you and the troops, and who want a Christian America. How do you explain the potrayal of your approval in the mainstream media?" or "Given that the Democrats in the Senate have consistently stonewalled you and kept you from acting with the power a president needs, how do you explain the great success that you've managed to have, anyway?"

They then repeat this process in five or ten cities, and then Fuckstick can come back and say to the world, "As you can see, my support and approval are very high around this country, and the mainstream liberal media are polling the wrong small percentage of people."

And then the majority of America will go, "Oh - okay." and vote Republican in November.

12. Just Bush Abusing the Power of the "Bully Pulpit"...
At the expense of U.S. Taxpayers (actually, just incrementally increasing our public debt), Bush travels the country and seeks to put his face in front of us as constantly as he can--it's the only way he can confuse us into thinking he actually does something and thereby prevent his approval numbers from dropping into the teens.

Sadly, not only is it an expense, it's a pure waste of time and public airwaves. Bush has never done anything worthwhile and surely has no excuse for bending our ears just to spout the same old talking points--as though because today is the day after yesterday, it somehow makes his points meaningful again. Remember, Bush is the guy who believes on Wednesday the same thing he believed on Monday, NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENED ON TUESDAY! Science has shown that even some lower forms of life can learn from experience; why are we burdened with a President (including his "Cabinet") who's clearly intellectually outclassed by fruit flies?

Personally, I'd avoid having to "shake" his hand... even if there was a public hand-washing station nearby. You never know where that hand has been (and even if it's never been anywhere, look what it's attached to).

President Bush in Chicago for Topinka Fundraiser
This Friday, President George Bush will be in town to host a fundraiser for Judy Baar Topinka. Since the President so rarely graces us with his esteemed presence here in Chicago, we're going to help roll out the blue carpet for a proper Chicago welcome. Let's tell the President, and Karl Rove's pick for Governor, Topinka, that the GOP has taken America in the wrong direction. We need your help to send a loud message, please join us this Friday from 11 AM to 1 PM.

George Bush and Judy Baar Topinka: Wrong Direction for America, Wrong Direction for Illinois.

28. With all his warrantless wiretapping, you would think that he....
...would know what is on America's minds.

I don't see why he needs so much time either. He didn't even need an overnight bag for his trip to Iraq so that he could be sure he was doing the right thing there.

He is the most poorly drawn caricature of a President ever. Clueless George! :)

I wish he'd just leave us alone, go away, disappear, divorce, go to hell because he NEVER does "press conferences" only propaganda stances. He should be fired like the Dell boy 'cause he's lied so goshdamn many times.

I won't be watching. I'll read it here but I'll not suffer another of his bullshit conferences. They make me, literally, ill.

23. I hope it's wicked hot
and he sweats through his shirt like the other day in NC.
The press gave Gore such shit for having persperation stains under his arms during the 2000 campaign on campaign stops, you would have thought the man needed constant IV's to stay on his feet. I remember being pissed because it was such a common topic as though Gore's deception and pathological lying had him showing his true colors ("He's drenched in sweat - it must be the stress of trying to sound authentic...").
Bush was completely soaked the other day and it wasn't a good look for him. It had the look of flop sweat. I hope he looks like Albert Brooks in "Broadcast News".
I don't ask for much...

30. Hopefully this conference will be the one...

...where Dubya finally goes off his meds and, after stammering non-answers to a few questions, lunges and tries to bite the nearest reporter's face off. After all the public relations shitstorms he's been engulfed in, the guy's mind must be held together with Scotch tape, chewing gum and massive doses of Zoloft.
