2. It's well known that
he doesn't like chicken nuggets.

But today is Friday, and the cafeteria is serving PIZZA! Kewl!

4. Lasth night I dreamt that Sadaam was on the stand
and was quizzing the US about how many innocent Iraqis WE have killed and tortured and what should happen to US as a result.

Still wondering if Ramsey Clark is still over there and why he hasn't been killed yet. Seems Sadaam's lawyers have a short life span.

9. I assumed this was a setup anyway
I doubt he ever claimed he would go on a hunger strike. We only have the word of the U.S. media to go on, as far as I know.

This was just a minor propaganda effort, in my opinion, which goes on all the time.

12. It would be an embarrassment to buy that crap Bush's people push
through the media.

This looks very typical of their kind of character assassination, since the facts alone don't get them the support they crave. Cheap, stupid, and childish.

If they had a case against him which anyone could respect they wouldn't have to go to the trouble of planting idiotic little stories like this in a hope to get a few Americans to stop during their busy day, and feel a little more contempt for him.

Remember how much mileage they got from the photos of his oral "exam." Or checking his head for cooties. From the photos of his dead sons' bodies. The list is endless.

These people are assholes.

11. Sadaam is a non-story like Bin Laden
We don't care about real baddies anymore here in the US of A. We just like to make more and more of them so we can continue to fight this massive faceless enemy all over the Middle East.

18. who's defending?
Edited on Fri Jun-23-06 03:22 PM by maxsolomon
OF COURSE he was a brutal stalinist dictator. please don't ape the 'saddam was bad' lets-stop-thinking anti-logic of the right. i merely find the media's gleeful ridicule of saddam (underwear pictures) in his dotage to be utterly predictable & banal.

the man did what we cannot do - pacify iraq. he did it through ruthless brutality, a policy which we cannot/will not adapt, thank the FSM. perhaps will still will adapt this policy, we certainly flirt around its edges.

but now, 3 years into anarchy, civil war, & repressive religious fanaticism that has cost our country 2500 lives & a trillion dollars, i no longer find him or his accomplishment laughable. saddam is not a joke. stalin is not a joke.

since their case against him is going nowhere, their show trial has been demonstrated time and again to be a complete joke of 'justice'
