Dan Rather leaving CBS, considering NDNet offer
By Claudia Parsons
Thu Jun 15, 7:36 PM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Dan Rather, once one of the most powerful men in U.S. television news, says he is preparing to leave the CBS network after more than four decades as an anchorman and reporter.

Rather, whose reputation was tarnished by a reporting scandal in 2004, said in an interview published on Thursday on trade magazine Television Week's Web site that he was in talks to leave CBS News when his contract expires in November.

"Finishing details are being worked out for me to leave CBS News after 44 years," he said, adding that the situation would be resolved soon.

Both CBS Corp. and CBS News officials declined to comment on earlier reports on Thursday that the veteran reporter would leave the flagship news magazine show "60 Minutes" in November.

Dan Rather reportedly considering offer

By FRAZIER MOORE, AP Television Writer
NEW YORK - Dan Rather, who's nearing a deal to leave CBS News after 44 years, reportedly is considering an offer from Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban to do a weekly news program for Cuban's HDNet cable channel.

Rather, 74, would be the host and producer of the one-hour program, The New York Times reported Friday.

Rather told the Times he had gotten several offers, including two from what he described as major networks, but said, "What I expect to do, what I hope to do, is bring this HDNet thing to fruition."

3. The Enquirer is going after Dan Rather accusing him of philandering
I guess Dan Rather proved himself a truthteller, and fascist trash pseudo-media like The Enquirer is threatened by that.

4. he should take the offer. The RW jackals were after him from the
very beginning. They saw him as an obstacle to installation of the corporatist state.
