Bush: E-Mail on Alberto 'Inappropriate'
June 14, 2006, 9:19 PM EDT

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Gov. Jeb Bush said Wednesday a campaign e-mail sent by a Democrat running for governor as Tropical Storm Alberto approached was a "stupid" attempt to politicize the storm.

U.S. Rep. Jim Davis sent an e-mail to supporters a day before the storm came ashore with the subject line "Alberto is here. Are we ready?" It criticized how Republicans have handled rising insurance rates.

Bush, a Republican who can't seek re-election because of term limits, said the e-mail was inappropriate.

"I hope he would realize what a stupid statement that is. The day before a hurricane arrives on our shores is not the time to be talking about politics, it's the time to get prepared," he said.

The Davis campaign said Bush's criticism is simply a sign that Davis is the front-runner in the Democratic primary.

Oh boo-hoo Jeb. How inappropriate to mention the fact that many Floridians will be facing hurricance season without insurance, because your insurance buddies have either cancelled your policy or double and tripled your rates.

3. Eff u Jeb. Just eff you. Advocating for accessible disaster relief is
not political. If you won't make the insurance companies pay up on their policies then shut the fuck up, move aside, and let someone else lead.
