Bush on Elections: Republicans Will Win
WASHINGTON - President Bush predicted on Wednesday that Republicans will maintain majority control of the House and Senate this November despite polls showing voters favor putting Democrats in charge.
"I believe we're going to hold the House and the Senate because our philosophy is one that is forward-looking and optimistic and has worked," Bush told reporters at a White House news conference.

Last week, the Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that only 24 percent of those surveyed approve of the way the Republican-controlled Congress is doing its job. Fifty-two percent said they want Democrats to capture control of Congress in November, about the same as last month's survey.

Bush said that in 2004 he faced questions on whether he could win re-election despite unfavorable numbers. This year, he contended, is no different.

"The elections are a long way off," the president said nearly five months out. "What's going to matter is who's got the plan that will enable us to succeed in Iraq and keep the economy growing."

He criticized some in the Democratic Party for calling for a withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq and offered his oft-repeated line that Democrats want to raise taxes.

12. That's been the typical Bush / Reagan strategy since 1980
Just boil elections down to a worship of money and you'll win every single time. Of course, that didnt work for Poppy Bush, so you never know!

5. Bush knows that it doesn't really matter what Americans think or want.
They've got everything taken care of. The voting machines will do what they've been designed to do, and the American voters can just go stuff themselves if they don't like it.

Democracy is being shoved down our throats whether we like it or not.

Any man who can look another man in the eye, shake his hand, and smile nicely for the cameras while saying, "Who gives a fuck what you think. No one cares what you think" is evil.

This was repeated to me as a true story. The woman standing next to the man asked him if she heard what she thought she heard. She did.

Stunning example of a conservative, Christian man who is doing the right thing for all Americans, eh?

24. No shit. The press was close enough to photograph, but not hear what was
being said. From the looks of things, Bush was having a pleasant conversation with an American citizen.

A report of this was circulated around the internet earlier this year. It wouldn't be to Bush's advantage, so the media doesn't cover it.

9. So, bankrupt the treasury with a contrived war..
then cut the taxes of the wealthy leaving the rest of us to pay for the war. By not extending "temporary" tax cuts, Democrats will therefore be "raising" taxes. I saw this obvious spin 6 years ago.

15. Maybe Dems need to say:
It is the only plan to keep the economy going. Really, we have no other choice. We have to keep borrowing money at the rate we are spending it.

Who's gonna argue that?

13. This is what they did at Camp David last weekend.
It wasn't how to actually win the war, or how to improve anything, only how they can look like they are winning something...anything. Even if they have to just say it. That's why they come out of the weekend with a bang - rover says he is skating, smirky goes to Iraq, ann coulter is innocent of anything and how dare you criticize her, and so on and so on.

But they want to lower them on the upper upper class so drastically that taxes, on average, go down.

36. He may be right, unfortunately.
Dems have to come up with a real alternative strategy on the biggest issues and soon, or else those disenchanted with Bush's failures are not going to be moved to vote dem. Because I keep hearing pukes say, "I don't want to vote GOP, but dems don't really have a plan." I don't know, maybe it's just a big mind game, but I can't honestly say I know what the dems plan to do, and saying, "well, you haven't looked hard enough for it!" is not constructive response.

There must be a clear, concise, effective, easy-to-remember meme.

etc and they are his base...the rest of America can SEE, SMELL, FEEL... They know BS when it starts to STINK.

Bush is BS all the way to the STY

Arrogance breeds DeLusion, Myopia, Over Confidence, Fantasy, and DISASTER. History is our Sensei.

Bush is repeating History and he don't even know it due to alliteracy...he knows how to read but does so only when he has to...

The ARROGANT MIND is a KILLER for SOCIETY...thus ... The ARROGANT SOCIETY is DOOMED..

Can We Tip The Scales back toward Sanity and Reason? Of Course...all it takes is an understanding of what is best for America and its Citizens/Future. Too many citizens are now aware of Bad Results coming from the direction of the PUB Party...they are gonna vote their best interest...and its not with the PUB Party..
