(CA Rep Bob) Filner blasts VA's handling of data theft with obscenities
<snip>

Rep. Bob Filner, the acting top Democrat on the House Veterans Affairs Committee, appeared at a news briefing outside the VA building to criticize the agency's three-week delay in publicizing the May 3 burglary at a VA data analyst's home.

Two VA officials – Assistant Veterans Affairs Secretary Lisette Mondello and spokesman Matt Burns – later appeared and called the briefing a “publicity stunt,” leading to Filner's blunt commentary.
“You guys f--- it up,” Filner declared. “Stop covering your a- and figure it out.”

2. Man I would love to see that!
We need some righteous anger in the House. And we need it delivered like Tony Soprano.

Right on Bob Filner (D-Balls)!!

3. He was a lot more restrained than I was. . .
when I receive notification from the VA about this yesterday.

The letter made it sound like, if my info had been compromised, it would possibly show up last month. Read properly, you know this will be an on-going threat. I could see though where some people might read it and believe that, if their identity wasn't compromised in May, they were in the clear.

I have to admit: Other than a general vagueness about the extent of each individual's personal liability, it was a good letter with a lot of good info for methods to check on identity security and steps to take if a problem develops.
