MSNBC changed the original headline after I posted this story, so I changed the subject line accordingly but left the original headline below:

Two car bombs explode in Kirkuk, Iraq, killing at least 15 people

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two car bombs targeting police exploded within a span of 30 minutes in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk on Tuesday, killing at least 15 people and wounding 15, police said.

The first explosion was a parked car bomb targeting a police patrol Tuesday morning in the city center. Ten people, including two policemen and eight civilians, were killed and nine people, including a police colonel, were wounded in the attack, Brig. Gen. Sarhat Qadir said.

A suspected suicide car bomber then tried to go through the checkpoint of the Kirkuk police directorate some 30 minutes later, but the guards opened fire, causing the car to explode.

Qadir said two policemen and three civilians were killed and six people were wounded, including one policeman and five civilians.

2. Why are we there? Other than oil.
I deplored the use of bombs against Nagasaki and Hiroshima on population centers. I feel the same to how we are killing innocent Iraqis.

KIRKUK, Iraq (Reuters) - Seven apparently coordinated bomb attacks killed
at least 24 people in the northern Iraqi oil hub city of Kirkuk on Tuesday,
police and hospital sources said.

The bombings occurred a day after al Qaeda in Iraq named a successor to its
leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was killed in a U.S. air strike last week.
The group vowed to carry on with a campaign of suicide bombings and beheadings.
