Rasmussen Poll: No bounce for Bush
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Americans approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President. Sixty percent (60%) disapprove.

Two-thirds of the telephone interviews for this update were conducted following the death of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. This suggests that there is no immediate “bounce” for the President from the news. Economic confidence, as measured by the Rasmussen Consumer and Investor Index , has actually slipped a bit since the terrorist leader’s death. That stands in sharp contrast to the reaction following the capture of Saddam Hussein when economic confidence soared to the highest levels of the post-9/11 era.

1. Oh gee, bet Karl is crying in his corner!
I'm sure he figured his boy would get a bounce out of this!!!!

I think it's interesting that Rasmussen is reporting this. They're usually very pro Shrub!

4. Don't people believe that Zarqawi was the leader of the insurgency?
Fred Barnes just said that Zarqawi was the leader of the insurgency on the Beltway Boys. Guess it's not sinkin in yet. Give it time.

10. Even if he was
so what? It's not like there aren't a thousand dudes with machine guns and EIDs waiting in line to fil the vacuum left by him.

I'm glad he's dead, but I don't credit Bush with his demise. Our military and whoever ratted him out get the credit as far as I'm concerned.

18. Zarqawi is the leader of the insurgency as much as USA is the leader of
the internet. If the internet in the USA were to vanish tomorrow, the internet would still survive and be just as strong.

The insurgency is a semi-organized network of people and small groups. There is no leader.

5. Hahaha! Told ya!
I swear Repukes are all tards, when will they learn that people don't fall for the same shit over and over (well 30% do, but those guys are lost causes). I'm so happy their plan failed, I personally hope it backfires in their faces. Sorry, a dead Zarqawi means nothing in the polls! Ha fucking ha KKKarl Rove! Suck it!

6. Don't worry - they always have their ace in the hole
in Osama Bin Laden - for all we know, they've had him in custody for a few years and will produce him or his body just prior to the election.

11. Was Zarqawi really killed NOW?
Or did it happen a while ago and they waited for the most opportune time to "break" the news? As in the defeat of the Marriage Amendment and Bush's lowest ever poll numbers?

Yes, I agree with your assessment of Bin Laden.

7. We need to send Georgie a CARE package:
1. Bounce fabric softener tissues, with a note that it may be the only bounce he gets.

2. Thyme: Tell him that since he was running out of time in the Iran "crisis" that maybe this would give him more thyme.

9. Rassmussen's numbers don't bounce like most polls
Edited on Sat Jun-10-06 06:35 PM by ECH1969
instead they trend certain directions over time. Almost everyone here and on dkos loved Rassmussen as the best poll of them all after the 2004 RNC Convention because it was the only poll that showed no Bush bounce when the others were showing 6-9 point increases, but the hatred of Rassmussen was out in force after the first debate because they showed no real trend toward Kerry. Thus, before one gets their hopes up for no bounce I think its important for people to remember history and expect bad from Gallup, NBC, et. and hope for good.

14. It 's really hard to conceive
that 39% of the peeps in the USA "approve" of what's his name! Just how stupid do you have to be?

This sounds like a freakin' rubber check bounce to me..the squatter was at 29%.

What's a mass murderer to do if he doesn't get a rise outta bombing the shite outta where zarqawi was suppose to be and then missing with the bomb but scoring a hit with the death squad?

21. This is excellent news. I think Steven Colbert's "backwash"

continues to support its leader and the rest of us have seen the light. If Bin Laden were caught/killed
tomorrow, he might get a little boost but then it would fall back to 39 percent.

25. I'm not sure
your average Joe was even aware who al-Zarqawi was and what he did. Beyond Bin Laden, could there really be any other boogeyman? That may be way too much to comprehend to take on so much significance in your average sheeple's mind.
