Texas Newborn Found Day After Being Allegedly Kidnapped by Fake Nurse
Texas Newborn Found Day After Being Allegedly Kidnapped by Fake Nurse

Monday , June 05, 2006

LUBBOCK, Texas

A missing 5-day-old baby was found in a car seat beneath a carport and a woman was in custody Monday evening, more than 24 hours after the infant's mother said she was abducted by a woman who had posed as a nurse in medical scrubs.

Priscilla Nicole Maldonado was taken to University Medical Center by police and reunited with her parents.

"The family is thrilled. They are absolutely thrilled," hospital spokesman Greg Bruce said.

2. I was worried abou that baby
The poor thing was sick and didn't have time to waste. Some thing to correct...but you can't delay!

3. Glad she's safe, but I suspect her jaundice wasn't all that
severe, since she was home.
My kid had baby jaundice for the first two and a half weeks of his life; besides the daily trips to the doc for heel sticks (which was way worse than being orange, in his newly forming opinion) I had to sit with him in the sun for several 30 minutes stretches every day. That was all. His bili-count never got high enough to stick him under the lights in the hospital.
Of course that was 26 years ago -- maybe jaundice is considered more serious at all levels these days.

4. Mine had to be re-admited because of it.
When he was relesed the first time, no real mention of it. They didn't notice it or something. Went for the first 'check up' and they freaked out. I hadn't noticed, cause of the strange lighting at our place.

Ended up in the hospital for several days. Just the way I wanted to recover from a c-section... setting up at the hospital..

That was why I was worried. It can be fine, but needs to be monitored. Some times a little sun light will do the trick, some times they send 'lights' home, if it's really bad, they go back into the hosptial.

I was afraid since the lady stold the baby, she would be afraid to take the baby to the hsopital if she really needed help.
