Lawyer says FBI is investigating pro-Lieberman blog postings
Wow, the FBI must not have any real work to do these days:

06/01/2006

A Hartford lawyer says the FBI has agreed to investigate postings promoting Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman's re-election on a popular Connecticut-based Internet "blog" in the names of Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

Bruce D. Rubenstein, a former finance chairman for the Democratic State Central Committee and a Lieberman critic, said Wednesday that an agent in the FBI's Meriden office told him the agency would probe the postings on the "Connecticut Local Politics" Web log run by an Enfield man, Chris Bigelow.

The FBI as a matter of policy refuses to confirm or deny that it is conducting any investigation.

Bigelow said Wednesday that he had not been contacted by anyone investigating the matter.

2. FBI chasing bloggers? Guess they got back all that stolen data on vets
and cleaned up all the other crime in America? When do they go back to NOLA to nail, err, arrest another dozen hookers, or did that go out of style with Ashcroft?

16. It was a Dem who asked for an investigation
From the OP's link:

- snip -

- snip -

Rubenstein also asked the chief state's attorney's office to investigate the postings, but he said a supervisor there told him his request would be referred to federal authorities as a possible violation of a criminal impersonation statute.

"It's a real shame that somebody - either in a campaign or on their own - used what is apparently a deceitful tactic to try to benefit Sen. Lieberman before the convention," he said.

12. Obama's shameful shilling for Lieberman
Having only recently raised money for Lieberman, Obama is the next Joementum, as Alexander Cockburn wrote in April:

"Meanwhile, at the other end of the country in Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman faced a decidedly cool audience at a big Democratic dinner at the end of March and got bailed out by his brother senator from Illinois, Barack Obama, who told the crowd to haul out their check books and make sure Lieberman gets returned for another term."

"What kind of a signal is this? Here is Obama, endlessly hailed as the brightest rising star in the Democratic firmament, delivering (at a closely watched political dinner, with Lieberman's primary opponent, Ned Lamont, sitting in the crowd) a ringing endorsement to his 'mentor', Lieberman, Bush's closest Democratic ally on the war in Iraq, and overall pretty much a symbol of everything that's been wrong with the Democratic Party for the past twenty years. What a slimy fellow Obama is, as befits a man symbolizing everything that will continue to be wrong with the Democratic Party for the next twenty years. Every time I look up he's doing something disgusting, like distancing himself from his fellow senator Dick Durbin for denouncing the torture center at Guantanamo, or cheerleading the nuke-Iran crowd."

17. Full disclosure: I am not really Maynard G. Krebs.
In fact, I'm not even Bob Denver.

Do I have to put this in my sig line to keep from being investigated?
