Ratings in Tank, Cheney Still Reels In Big-Time Bucks
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-cheney24may24,0,7225428.story?coll=la-home-headlines

San Diego -- His former top aide is under indictment in the CIA leak probe. His poll ratings fall somewhere between bad and atrocious. Still, Dick Cheney can pack in the faithful like few others in the Republican Party.

And so the vice president came to California on Monday and Tuesday for a series of fundraisers aimed at bucking up three GOP House candidates facing unexpectedly tough fights in this political season of scandal. Democrats were delighted.

Touching down in Sacramento, Stockton and San Diego, Cheney flew as far below the figurative radar as Air Force Two would allow. His appearances were either closed to the media and public, or conducted in lightning-strike fashion. On Monday night in Stockton, at the city's splendidly restored Bob Hope Theatre, Cheney materialized from behind a dark curtain, then swiftly disappeared after delivering 15 minutes of workmanlike remarks on behalf of Rep. Richard Pombo, R-Calif.

<snip>

But the vice president's furtive movements didn't stop protesters from gathering outside each appearance, or keep the state Democratic Party from issuing a series of snarky bulletins tracking Cheney's "Culture of Corruption Tour."

<snip>

And he all but accused Democrats of lending aid and comfort to terrorists, saying advocates of "a sudden withdrawal from Iraq are counseling the very kind of retreat that Osama bin Laden has been predicting and counting on."

...more...

Strange that. Cheney invokes bin Laden and voila! a tape materializes. :eyes:

1. I haven't been around for a couple of days..
but this tape says, no Missoui (I don't care if it is misspelled) was NOT IN on the "plot". Yet 5 years ago this same persona, OBL, "said" he was not in on the "plot". But suddenly he is an expert? How do we sleep at night? How can educated people accept the charade? This is a question more on my mind than ever. I had a glimer of hope that, no, we have free access and this could never stand. What an easy toy I was.

2. And what does that tell you about the Republican
party? That THEY DON'T CARE. They don't care if Crack-shot Cheney's numbers are -100%. They don't care if Bush's numbers are -200%.

They're going to give to the Rethuglican party because they have no choice.

13. Precisely
Corporate donors know that Repuke rule is authoritarian, not democratic, and therefore utterly unresponsive to the interests and concerns of the average voter. Since corporations benefit at the expense of the average voter, it's very much in their interest that a government of the corporation, by the corporation, and for the corporation accomplish as much as it possibly can before the average voter wakes up and smells the coffee. They will do as much as they possibly can to forestall that fateful day, so, if anything, low public opinion polls will be a stimulus for renewed support, to ensure that their puppets get to remain in power and promote legislation favorable to their interests and unfavorable to the American people for absolutely as long as humanly possible. No surprise there.

3. Every time Dick says something a Democrat in congress retreats
His words strike fear within, and they have no answer or rebuttal for his fear-mongering rhetoric, hence the MSM quotes him constantly without opposition from the opposition.

5. "cheney is obsessed with what bin laden thinks" should be a new talking
point. this guy cares more about what bin laden thinks than he cares about American troops and their safety.

11. If I recall...this is the first time in history our politicians have to
fly unannounced under cover of darkness out of fear of the American people. This is the type if hate the bush administration has drummed up in our country. Shame on them!!!!!
