US to monitor behavior at more airports
US to monitor behavior at more airports

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Transportation Security Administration will soon use more behavioral profiling at American airports to detect suspicious activity, a top official said on Thursday.

TSA Director Kip Hawley said the agency would expand a pilot program that has trained officers to observe passengers' behavior currently at about a dozen airports. He said it will be expanded after the summer travel rush.

"We are looking at expanding ... as another layer of security," Hawley said. "We have been very pleased with its effectiveness. We expect it to be an important part of our security going forward."

TSA officials would not identify which "highest risk" airports will be included in the expanded program.

3. And what sort of training will these screeners be getting??
Yes, it's been an effective technique overseas (namely, in Israel). They adequately train their people.

We have screeners who miss 50% of the "bombs" that the TSA inspectors try to get past them. Once again, we manage to take a decent plan and screw it up...

5. More U.S. airports to monitor traveler behavior (Reuters/CNN)
Thursday, May 18, 2006; Posted: 9:49 p.m. EDT (01:49 GMT)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- The U.S.

***
George Naccara, the federal security director at Logan, said the TSA program is modeled on behavior detection systems used in Israel and some other countries.

"It's been very effective overseas," Naccara said, where the effort "is much more confrontational and much more aggressive."

Officers are taught to look for abnormal behavior in passengers, such as people wearing coats when it's warm in order to disguise bombs, or people acting fidgety or nervous.

if somone has a big puffy coat in the middle of the summer that something might not be right....Fuck I hate flying...

People are acting fidgity and nervous because they don't know if they are safe....

If someone has Turrets what are they going to do pummel them to make them stop...I am serious..this is where this is going....

7. So they call it "race-neutral profiling" and then they can harass
anyone they want and because it is race-neutral no one complain about profiling?

Profiling = stereotyping.

If you don't fit the narrow definition of what constitutes 'normal' to a bunch of buzz-cut, suit-wearing, gun-toting authority-freaks, you're screwed buddy. If you complain, they'll introduce you to a world of pain. Just shut the fuck up, hippy, and take your medicine. It's all in the interests of 'security' and 'safety' after all.

The world's airports are rapidly becoming the employers of choice for those small of genital or low of self-esteem. Give them a uniform and a gun and they're somebody! At last! They can harrass, hassle, arrest, deport, strip, search, beat and detain people at will. It's fascist Disneyland!

10. Well because of this security at airports, is a reason I will not travel
anymore..I would love to take a trip to europe, but the thought of going through the airports security just tires me out..but then again the way the rest of the world looks at us with hatred does not help either.
