(UK) Drugs minister 'smoked marijuana'
16 May 2006

The new minister for drugs policy has admitted smoking cannabis.

Vernon Coaker said he had had "one or two puffs of marijuana" while a student but had not enjoyed the experience and decided not to repeat it.

The Home Office minister, who was handed his role in this month's Cabinet reshuffle, denied taking harder drugs.

He made his admission on a visit to Coventry as part of a nationwide tour to see how the government's drug strategy is affecting communities.

He told the Coventry Evening Telegraph: "When I was a student, I took one or two puffs of marijuana but that was it. I think it was once or twice."

5. one or two puffs..HAHAHAHAHA whatever. Embrace it...
I've smoked bales of the stuff, and I'm happy to admit it! Surely the world would be a better place if only others would partake of it. :-)

Cowards.

8. No shit!....The ones who need it the most are too scared to try it...
They believe everything the government tells them.

I smoke two joints in the morning
I smoke two joint at night
I smoke two joint in the afternoon
It makes me feel all right

I smoke two joints in time of peace
And two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints,
And then I smoke two more

Daddy he once told me,
"Son, you be hard workin' man"
And momma she once told me,
"Son, you do the best you can"
Then one day I meet a man,
He came to me and said,
"Hard work good and hard work fine,
but first take care of head"

11. "one or two puffs" == "a bonghit a day keeps the griping away"
Vernon "Coke man" Coaker probably did a helluva lot more than that. I'd bet money that he tripped balls on acid and shrooms at least one time each, and maybe did a line or two of cocaine when the opportunity presented itself. Let's see what his fellow "students" have to say about their new Minister Of No Fun At All. Was he really a straight-laced young gentleman with the requisite stick up his ass, or maybe he's just another switch-hitter who sold out his freedom for a fat wad of taxpayer largesse a long time back?

Nothing screams "hypocrite" like a rabid government drug warrior.

12. I've danced with cannibis
and enjoyed it. Immensely.

In fact, I fully intend to do so again. Soon.

Does that preclude me in your eyes from higher (pardon the term) office?

14. The leader of the Ontario NDP, Howard Hampton, was asked about his use
This was shortly after Clinton's infamous "never inhaled" comment. Hampton said something along the lines of, "Yes I smoked marijuana. I even inhaled. However, I was so aware of the dangers of second-hand smoke that I never exhaled..."

I don't get what the big deal is. All the people in power now grew up during the '60s. Nobody back then took one or two tokes on one or two occassions. GMAFB. Hypocrisy will never go out of fashion, I guess.
