Plug pulled on London Webcams, as Bush sweeps into town
<http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/6/34062.html>

Excerpt:

"With London bracing itself for the mother of all security operations, it should come as little surprise that some strategically-place Webcams have gone on the blink."

1. Of course, don't need a tape transcript of US footmen SHOOTING
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 11:16 AM by E_Zapata
innocent people........

How friggin ironic.......get rid of evidence building equipment like webcams. Now, gee....... I wonder.....is Al Queda REALLY after georgie, and thereby warranting the mother of all security operations? Or could it be that 'dissent' displeases his majesty? Nah, it couldn't be that......george thinks freedom of speech is quaint.

2. To be honest, this seems like a natural security precaution
Seperating myself from my disgust at King George and what he has done, realtime web cams could be used to coordinate attacks.

True, the point made above about keeping safe any footage taken of abuses by British or Amerikan Security Forces is a vlid one, I honestly think that security would be lapsing if they didn't do that.

In the alternate universe where President Gore was allowed to take his seat, I wouldn't be bitching about taking the WebCams off line either.

In conclusion: Perfectly acceptable security precaution, IMHO, in spite of the downside.

There's plenty of press cameras present. The BBC and Channel 4 (to name only the British TV ones) won't shy away from showing any abuses by police or USSS. Channel 4 did it for the abuse of the Anti-terrorist Act by Police at this year's arms fair.

5. We know this Bogus Pub Crawl is costing the U.K.
Edited on Wed Nov-19-03 11:36 AM by Turbineguy
about $2.5 Million per day. Does anyone know how much the American taxpayers grandchildren are on the hook for?

Will this trip be more expensive than the 911 Investigation?

Will it cost more than Kenny Starr's obsession with Bill Clinton's engorged member (or should that be Member)?

I guess we'll know eventually
