Palace investigation into royal security breach
Palace investigation into royal security breach
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,1-900257,00.html

Buckingham Palace today promised a full investigation into how an undercover reporter exposed a serious breach of royal security by posing as a footman at the Palace for two months.

The Daily Mirror’s Ryan Parry used bogus references to get a job while the police and royal staff were preparing for the visit of President Bush.

Mr Parry was due to serve breakfast to President Bush’s top aides this morning, the newspaper said.

The investigation covered 15 pages in today’s edition and raises questions over royal security.

---snip----

Last-minute security fears have led to Mr Bush, whose Secret Service codename is Trailblazer, cancelling his only major public appearance during his three days in London. The President has hurriedly dropped plans to meet the families of the British victims of the September 11 attacks, at the memorial garden outside the US Embassy in Grosvenor Square this afternoon. This event would have been the longest time that Mr Bush was in public view and the closest that he would have got to wellwishers and demonstrators.

The official reason for the sudden change of heart is that Mr Bush wants this emotional meeting with the families to take place away from the public glare, so that their private talks will now be held inside the heavily fortified embassy. The President agreed to this change just before he boarded Air Force One to begin his journey.

---snip---

This means that apart from his official welcome from the Queen in the forecourt of the Palace this morning, all the public will see of Mr Bush is him getting in and out of his armour-plated car after a 100-yard drive from the side of the Palace to the front.

Why should Bunnypants* be bothered with the Unwashed Rabble?

He doesn't like the Little Nobodies and they didn't appoint him (God did) so why should he bother himself with them except to defraud them (us).

2. Who would have ever thought that we would
see the day when a President of the United States would be afraid to show his face in London.

It's not our fault... but it's a sad day for this country. It has to end. This evil little man must be ousted before he completely destroys all that we are.

U.K. Tabloid: Security Breach at Buckingham Palace
Wednesday, November 19, 2003

LONDON  — Buckingham Palace (search) launched an investigation Wednesday into how it hired a journalist with a fake reference to be one of the servants assigned to serve President Bush's party.
The Daily Mirror (search) newspaper, claiming to have exposed a security breach at Buckingham Palace, said its reporter had been given full access to Queen Elizabeth II's (search) residence on his first day on the job two months ago.
he Mirror said reporter Ryan Parry had been due to serve breakfast Wednesday morning to key Bush aides. It said Parry quit his job as a royal footman at midnight Tuesday.
"We keep being told this is the biggest security operation of all time and it seems to me to beggar belief that we could get to a situation, as we did last night, where our journalist was detailed with serving breakfast on the presidential floor this morning and at the state banquet tonight," Mirror editor Pierson Morgan said.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair's (search) office had no immediate comment.
"We have every confidence in the British security," White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan said. She referred all other questions to British officials.

5. I Don't Know If The References Were Bogus
According to MSNBC just now, the reporter used his friends at a local pub as references to apply for the job.

8. I Bet The Secret Service Is Going Nuts
Imagine having an undercover reporter with full access to Dimbo's living quarters for two months. Want to bet they're changing the furniture in the fear that there is a "bug" planted and the truth might somehow leak out?

9. Well, at least he's
still meeting with the Sept 11 families. I understand that at least one of them had said she was going to make it crystal clear to Bush that she didn't like him or his policies. Hope that still happens.

(Here's a letter a friend forwarded to me a while back)"

Dear Governor Bush;
We do not support your policies. We don't even like you. Please leave. Thank you.
/s/ The People of the United States
P.S. We've counted the states we started with, so don't try anything funny
