Protesters rally outside private fundraiser attended by Bush
By KELLI KENNEDY
Associated Press Writer
May 08. 2006 8:44PM

About 50 people gathered outside a gated community to protest the Bush administration and Iraq war Monday, as President Bush arrived for a private fundraiser.

Bush was to attend the fundraiser for Republican U.S. Rep. Clay Shaw who is seeking a 14th term against Democratic state Sen. Ron Klein in the 22nd Congressional District - a seat that has statewide significance for both parties. It was to be held at a lagoon-side mansion owned by Mike Maroone, president and chief operating officer of AutoNation Inc., the largest U.S. auto retailer. The fundraiser was closed to the media.

Protesters held signs that said "Stop oil addiction" and "Hands off my civil rights," while chanting "No blood for oil," as the president's motorcade rolled up around 5:10 p.m ...

"It's an attempt to get his toe in the door to privatize Medicare and Social Security," said Mary Jane Mullins, 75, of Deerfield Beach. "All of this country is being sold to corporate interests" ...

And I think "the Beloved Community" is something that Bishop Desmond Tutu used to refer to. Most recently, I heard it on CSPAN during Rosa Park's funeral; can't remember who said it then.

In ("fallen away") Catholic-speak it refers to The Mystical Body of Christ.

Bush is beyond influencing by protests. Or even the polls. ONly those who can influence him are his corporate owners.
My hope. Since Bush is beyond shame; with BUsh's poor popularity , maybe his fat cat owners, might become ashamed to asociate with this clown. When we protested BUsh's presence in our area. We greeted Bush with middle fingers extended , but his supporters, we screamed 'shame.' It was great, the line of protesters were about three blocks long and four deep.all with this same greeting.
