Rice To Talk Iraq War At Hilton Chicago
http://cbs2chicago.com/topstories/local_story_109073525.html

<<Then she plans to go to the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Ave., where she will speak to the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, her primary focus being the war in Iraq.

Since the end of March, the Bush administration has been on an amped up campaign to explain the mission there, especially because of widespread discontent about the war.

Continued insurgent violence has brought about the continued loss of life of Iraqi civilians and members of the U.S. military.>>

Full damage control mode. Article also says that she take questions. Wonder if anyone will ask her what she meant SPECIFICALLY about the mistakes that were made in Iraq.

1. I HATE this attitude
It's the "You-don't-really-understand-because-we-haven't-explained-it-well-enough" attitude.

Do they think we're idiots, just waiting for them to explain away their failures?

Don't answer that.

3. I heard some retired miltary advisor yesterday on the radio
He was saying that the 6 retired Generals are only criticizing Rummy because they wanted to cover up their own failures or "they have a book coming out".

Serious delusion, man.

4. Being Secretary of State, shouldn't she actually be *IN* Iraq helping?
Or at least *been* to Baghdad a few time to meet with the fledgling government?

5. Another "tactical" error among the thousands
trotting Condi and W out on the road separately. Everybody knows their legions of fans want to see them together, maybe on a tour bus.

6. It always comes back to the central question:
why are they still trying to sell us on this war, 3 years after the fact?

8. because like everything bushco offers us, it has no value without hype.
it's worthless and horrible... it makes us look like monsters... but they still believe they can change our perception of the war by spinning wildly.

11. I hope they roast the POS
She usually appears somewhere with enough cover that no one can grill her. I can't wait to hear that they made her cry like a little baby. Although, given that sobbing, offended tone of voice she uses most of the time, no one will know for sure.
