Seven employees killed in Basra
14 April 2006

Iraqi police have said seven employees of a construction company have been killed in the southern city of Basra.

Ten employees were handcuffed and blindfolded and taken to a residential area in the northern part of the city.

They were lined up against a wall to be shot. Seven workers were killed, but three managed to escape.

Separately, six policemen were killed when a large convoy transporting police vehicles was ambushed by gunmen near Baghdad, a police official has said.

Another day of death and destruction, while Bush smiles and counts some more successes.

1. oh gawd. how horrible--just to be lined up and shot. No wonder people
are packing up and fleeing, and changing their names.

3. Four British troops wounded in suicide attack ...Basra
BAGHDAD (AFP) - Two Iraqis were killed and four British servicemen were wounded when a four-vehicle British military convoy was attacked by a suicide car bomber in the southern city of Basra.

"Two Iraqis have died and four members of the British military were wounded," a British military spokesman told AFP.

He said the explosion occurred in the Shuaiba region, located on the outskirts of Basra at 8:20 am (0420 GMT) Friday.

Police from Basra confirmed it was a suicide car bomb attack against the convoy, adding that four Iraqis were also wounded in the explosion.

4. Is there a casualty list of Halliburton employees?
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 08:49 AM by Virginian
We know how many members of our Armed Services have been killed and wounded in Iraq, but is there a list of contractors? Many of these contractors would have been Service men and women if the Pentagon had not outsourced these jobs.

edited to add:
Maybe if people understood how dangerous these jobs were, they wouldn't sign on. We saw one kidnapped employee because his taped pleas for help were broadcast on our small screens.
What about those who were killed instead of kidnapped?
What about those kidnapped by groups without video recorders?
