Bush says 'name-calling' just politics

In an exclusive interview with CTV News, United States President George Bush said he doesn't believe disagreements, even name-calling, indicate a fundamental problem with U.S.-Canada relations.

"I can understand people not agreeing with some of my decisions," he told CTV's Tom Clark in an interview conducted in the map room of the White House's residential building on Tuesday.

"I guess much has been made about some of the name-calling that went on. That's just part of politics and it doesn't bother me in the least," he said.

"If I was bothered about name-calling from Canada, I'd be worried about name-calling from the United States as well," he joked.

6. Oh, I think it bothers him.
He knows he's a buffoon. I've listened to clips where Bush says something, and then the audience starts laughing. Another goof-up.

The laughter gets louder. Bush starts to laugh, too. What can he do? Other than storm off the stage, he's trapped with his audience.

So - laugh it up.

As he said previously to members of the public: "Who cares what you think?" Yup, he doesn't give a $hit. No $hit!!! I would like to hear Trump telling him he's FIRED! heheee

11. Not worried about name-calling from the Unites States? Huh?
This from a guy who has the Secret Service escort protestors out of public events attended by him and is evidently still supporting manned missions to Mars in the hopes of making it the solitary "Free Speech Area" for our entire solar system.

20. I know -- how hard could it be?
Two countries which are each other's largest trading partners, have lots of citizens who live/work/study in each other's jurisdictions, haven't had a battle since 1814, and share "The World's Longest Undefended Border" (tm). Surely that ought to be a snap!

Just goes to show that there's NOTHING that Dubya can't mess up.

26. as far as I know, you don't need a passport to get into Canada ...
... if you're a US citizen. Birth certificate and driver's license (or equivalent) are enough, and they usually don't even ask to see those. The White House has been making noises about making passports necessary for getting back into the US ... which hasn't gone down well with the border states.

13. Actually no junior, it's not "just politics"
People really do hate your murderous fucking guts. Really they do. I would venture to say junior, that you are the most hated man in the world. So when people effected by your murderous evil misdeeds and policies call you a name I'll just go out on a limb here and say it's not "just politics". They mean it.

16. I wanna smack people who say something is "just politics"
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 08:58 AM by Solly Mack
"just politics" brought us an illegal war
"just politics" gave us a torture policy
"just politics" gave us NCLB
"just politics" deprives the elderly of much needed food boxes
"just politics" gave us the Katrina response
"just politics" gave us the Patriot Act
"just politics" is erasing civil rights
"just politics" gave us Bush to begin with
"just politics" gave us self-regulation for businesses that abuse the common good
"just politics" gave us (fill-in-the-blank)

"just politics" has been anything but just(for a play on words) - and "just politics" has been a leading cause of death, destruction, and deprivation for people the world over.

You have to be truly callous to call what governments and politicians do "just politics"
and a politician who uses the phrase is someone that thinks screwing the people is "just politics"

28. Canadians turn more sour on U.S.
Ottawa — Stephen Harper heads into his first meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush tomorrow with a new poll suggesting he keep a healthy political distance from his increasingly unpopular American counterpart.

“There'll be no < When> Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” said Allan Gregg, head of the Strategic Counsel, the firm that conducted the poll. Mr. Gregg was referring to a much-noted appearance of Canada's last elected conservative prime minister, Brian Mulroney, and U.S. president Ronald Reagan, who crooned together on stage at the so-called Shamrock Summit in Quebec in 1985.

However, The Globe and Mail/CTV News survey suggests that Canadians want the meeting between Mr. Harper and Mr. Fox to be far more businesslike, given Mr. Bush's unpopularity in Canada and a series of cross-border irritants. The poll found that 69 per cent of Canadians believe Mr. Bush's election was a bad thing, compared with 58 per cent who thought the same way right after he was given a second term. By contrast, 19 per cent think his election was positive, down seven points from November of 2004.

The survey, for example, found that in Quebec, 81 per cent of those surveyed thought Mr. Bush's re-election was a bad thing. The poll also found that 70 per cent agreed with the statement that, although they value the United States and its citizens, they disagree fundamentally with the government.
