Protesters Give Thaksin Deadline to Quit (thailand)
AP) Anti-government protesters said they would escalate their campaign against Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra unless he resigned by Thursday night, and the Thai leader consulted the army chief in advance of a major demonstration.

Leaders of the movement seeking Thaksin's resignation for alleged corruption and abuse of power announced their 48-hour deadline Tuesday but did not say what further actions they might take beyond the nonviolent marches and rallies they have been holding for more than a month.

Suriyasai Katasila, an anti-Thaksin spokesman, said that new tactics would be unveiled Thursday evening if Thaksin didn't resign.

A major anti-Thaksin rally is scheduled for Saturday, and it is expected to draw tens of thousands of protesters. Organizers have said it will be the last rally of its sort before the April 2 election called by Thaksin. <snip>

1. Thaksin is basically like a Thai version of Bush
I know someone who lives in Thailand for half the year, he's a "sex tourist" but is quite learned on the politics and culture. From what he says, Thaksin seriously needs to go. I hope this is a success.
