Thomas doubts Iraq in civil war

The recent conflicts between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Iraq arise more from strife on individual and random levels than from a civil war, Sen. Craig Thomas said Tuesday.

"The people we've talked to ... they don't think that's the prime drive," Thomas said in a telephone interview from Baghdad.

...

Thomas said U.S. forces need to stay in Iraq and continue training Iraqi forces.

"We need to stay here until the job is finished."

...

"Things are getting better," Thomas said. "It would be a mistake to say get out in a particular month or on a particular date."

12. Um, it did say he was in Baghdad....he was there w/Sen. John Warner, too.
Probably safe in the Green Zone, though.

10. Hey, if you want to be closely aligned with the credibility gap
be our guest. And as your constituents grow more uneasy with the war and its toll... your credibility gap will cost you some voters.

14. But if Bill Clinton were in charge it would be a civil war!
Thanks Cal for your thoughtful insight. Sooner or later they (RW's) will have to start beating on each other because Democrats will have been beaten into submission.
