NYT: Call for Censure Is Rallying Cry to Bush's Base
Unbelievable.

By DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK
Published: March 16, 2006
WASHINGTON, March 15 — Republicans, worried that their conservative base lacks motivation to turn out for the fall elections, have found a new rallying cry in the dreams of liberals about censuring or impeaching President Bush.

The proposal this week by Senator Russell D. Feingold, Democrat of Wisconsin, to censure Mr. Bush over his domestic eavesdropping program cheered the left. But it also dovetailed with conservatives' plans to harness such attacks to their own ends.

What a load of crap. So the Republicans are going to rally the 35% or so of people who still love Bush.

It may work though because the Democrats seem to be doing their downright absolute best to turn off the 55% or more who absolutely positively hate his guts.

2. Impressive. David Kirkpatrick spills almost none of the water he is
carrying for the Republican Party in this article. He steps so neatly around what Feingold's Censure resolution is about!

3. Horsepucky,
This is a canned media response to any criticism of dear leader. There really is no base. Not at 30%. Those are people who would follow dear leader like lemmings. People who still expect promises to be delivered. The population of Utah. People who expect dear leader to get them out of jail. That's about it. IMHO.

4. This is blatantly designed to dissuade those who favor censure
the Republicans are plyaing the fear card and I call bullshit. Their base's support of Bush is nearly obliterated, and they desperately need the Dems to be silent and not take advantage of it, so they can build themselves back up.

Ignore the scare tactics, do what's right.

5. You nailed it.
The goal is to make us sound so extreme, so wild eyed.

You wouldn't want to associate yourself with people like that, now would you, Senator?

8. Love his source of quotes...
Limpbutt? Sheesh. Like that adds such credibility to this article.

These are desparate times for desparate measures. And the "base" is desparate...

10. The New York Times is little more than a organ of
the Republican party.

As a news source it's about as trustworthy as the Drudge Report, just not as interesting and less likely to take an independent position from time to time.

12. "Kill all the gays and the coloreds!" is a rallying cry to Bush's base
Because Bush's base now consists solely of racist, fundamentalist psychos and his own criminal cronies.
