Israeli agent: Soviet mole framed Pollard
<snip>

"A former agent for Israel's intelligence service says that convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard was framed by a Soviet agent.

Ravi Eitan told Ynetnews.com that Pollard, a former U.S. Navy intelligence officer, did pass on information to Israel. But he said that claims that Pollard exposed the identities of 11 CIA agents were responsible for the life sentence in a U.S. prison he received and were fabricated by Aldrich Ames, a CIA officer who was working for the Soviet Union.

"I'm willing to put my hand in fire and swear in everything dear to me that those charges are a blatant lie," Eitan said. "Nothing from what Pollard delivered leaked out of the Israeli intelligence community, nothing. Besides, he never provided us with information that could have exposed American agents in the Soviet Union or anywhere else."

Eitan, who worked for Israeli intelligence for many years, said that he has an obligation to be open about his past because he is now in politics as head of the Pensioners Party.

Exclusive interview: Former Mossad operative Rafi Eitan says Jonathan Pollard never exposed U.S. agents, was framed by CIA mole Ames; information relayed by Pollard was so good 'I couldn't resist temptation,' Eitan says. Addressing harsh punishment, ex-spymaster says Pollard spoke too much, should have avoided anti-U.S. accusations

2. Read: Robert Maxwell, Israel's Superspy and Media Mogul
Then revisit the Pollard Issue.
They want Pollard back because they are afraid he will crack.

4. That's two things the old Soviet Union is being blamed for today
First, the attempted assassination of the pope, and now Pollard.

How long until they get blamed for both Kennedys and Martin Luther King? Maybe the disappearance of Emilia Earhart too.

5. This crap doesn't matter; he still committed treason

What's inpotant is what's in bold. Pollard delivered classified info to a foriegn country. That's treason. He deserves life in prison for that.

7. It's almost as hilarious as the typical Repug excuse...
.... yeah we spied but we didn't tell anyone else - Pollard is guilty and he needs to finish his sentence.
