Foreign Affairs Minister (of new Canadian Conservative gov't) eter MacKay has apologized to the families of the two Canadian hostages being held in Iraq after suggesting he had new information about their fate.
MacKay told reporters on Monday he was confident the hostages were alive and would be released soon, and that he believed they had been moved several times.
The next day, he told reporters he had no new information since a video was released three weeks ago that indicated they were alive and well.

http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2006/02/22/mackay060222.htmlHow fucking stupid can a man be to draw unneccessary attention to hostages whos' fate hangs in the balance AND imply knowledge and thus false hope for the families???
Good G'dammit, this is what I was afraid would happen with this Conservative government...big mouth syndrome. I've been noticing other examples. Just like Bush they want to strut and yap about thier opinions and other stuff they know nothing about just to feel like big men.
I always liked how most Canadian governments kept public declarations neccessary and intelligent. Usually. Now we're going to see a whole bunch of chest-thumping and feel good bullshit just like the Bush admin.
