Reid criticizes vice president for not disclosing accidental shooting soon
WASHINGTON -- After saying Monday that Vice President Cheney did nothing wrong, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday criticized Cheney for not being more forthcoming about accidentally shooting a man during a weekend hunting trip in Texas.

"Talk about secrecy. The vice president accidentally shoots someone and keeps that a secret for nearly a day. That man (who was shot) is now very sick," Reid, D-Nev., told reporters Tuesday.

Asked why he thought Cheney had not talked about the shooting, Reid said, "I think the reason it took the vice president a day to talk about this is part of the secretive nature of this administration. The American people are not entitled to know what's going on in their mind-set. They keep things pretty close to the chest."

Reid noted Cheney has not had a news conference since 2002 and said, "It's time the American people heard from the vice president in a real meeting just like we're having here."

That statement is living proof that you have to pay to play in DC to get pork.

If you are poor, forget it.

6. Thanks for that link - what an interesting news source -
I especially liked the article about the Arkansas jail that denied an inmate a prayer feather due to its being a security risk. Puhleez.

in Nevada. or Jack Carter. Reid isn't stumbling over himself to help him out either. In fact, Reid is encouraging a former mob lawyer and current LV Mayor to run for the seat Carter has announced. I am starting to see that Reid is not a team player with his own party. Just ask John Kerry.

Reid's son-in-law is an attorney for the National Mining Association and Reid didn't lift one finger to get Kerry in to meet with the gold mines in Nevada. The repukes used the public lands issue against Kerry to get miners to vote against him. Reid did nothing but get his campaign contributions lined up for himself.

I know of Dem leaders in my part of the state that advised Jack Carter to run in this race against John Ensign and if he loses, to run against Reid in the next election.

I know of many Dems who are still pissed about his support of the bankruptcy bill.

Vice president to make first public comments since incident

Wednesday, February 15, 2006; Posted: 2:14 p.m. EST (19:14 GMT)

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (Reuters) -- A man shot accidentally shot by Vice President Dick Cheney was in stable condition Wednesday after suffering a mild heart attack when a shotgun pellet in his chest traveled to his heart.

snip....

The announcement came after Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the top-ranking Democrat in the House, emerged from a White House breakfast meeting with President Bush and Cheney to say the vice president needed to come forward. (Watch why secrecy has been Cheney's modus operandi -- 1:43)

"I guess I'm kind of old-fashioned," Reid said. "He hasn't had a press conference in three and a half years."
